  1. It's like if a bank got robbed by some one who worked there. Then person was caught and goes to jail. But all the other workers that worked there didn't get their annual bonus as a punishment.

In that analogy only the person who robbed the place gets any benefit. In this scenario the whole organization benefits

  2. If a player is cought cheating, doing drugs, or gambling...they are banned and punished, not the whole team. Why would this be any different.

A single player has an effect on their individual performance. If a player is caught doping then their individual performance is punished (i.e. suspension/expulsion). So if you extend that same punishment logic to a front office executive with an influence on scouting and drafting, then the punishment should have an effect on that (i.e. loss of draft picks).

  3. so much for the "shit i forgot to clear out my cookies" defense...

Some of the things that were done - pretty serious:

    • Correa accessed the Astros' Ground Control system on June 8, 2013 (the third day of the draft) and looked at Houston's reports on players. Among them: one player the Astros would pick that day, a player who was drafted by another team and the players the Cardinals drafted the previous day.

    • On July 31, 2013, the MLB trade deadline, Correa accessed Ground Control and looked at the Astros' notes on trade discussions.

    • On March 10, 2014, Correa gained access to Ground Control after the Astros had changed its URL and all of its users' passwords. In the days before this breach, the Astros' system had gotten national attention from a Houston Chronicle article, so they changed the URL and reset everyone's passwords in order to prevent this exact type of activity. However, Correa hacked into an exec's e-mail account to get the new URL and password, then viewed 118 pages of the Astros' draft rankings, scouting reports and trade notes.

I think the commissioner has to come down pretty hard on St. Louis so they set a precedent about this kind of thing.

And in the 2014 draft, the Astros went first and the Cardinals went last, meaning that except for the first few rounds with comp picks, the Cardinals were drafting directly ahead of the Astros. So all that access clearly could have effected the draft.

As an Astros fan, I obviously have a biased view of this issue, but this really is a big deal. Hopefully Manfred takes picks from the Cardinals. I don't even care if they are awarded to the Astros (although I'd be happy if they were).

  4. So I've gotten three "random" records in the mail the last few days with a note that there are many more to come. The note mentions that there is a theme to all of them. I'll list them below and update it is as more come in. I'll post a picture once they're all here.

They all contain a song used at some point in LOST, so I have a feeling that they rest will follow that pattern as well. I was stumped at first, but then I noticed that the Mama Cass record has "Make Your Own Kind of Music" on it, which was used prominently in the opening of the season 2 premiere. From there I did some research and the other two check out as well.

Also, one of the packages gave up that Grant (gmoney) is my SS. So thanks Grant! This is super thoughtful and awesome!

  5. i wasn't watching the whole time, but did i see a steeler coach/former player(porter i believe) bump cincy players during that last drive that led to the penalty to put them in field goal range?

That interaction wasn't what got the second flag thrown. From another video you can see Pacman grabbing an official from behind and then that official throws the flag.

  6. I opened my box on Christmas, and this is what was inside.

I really wanted that Mutiod Man. It's one of my favorites this year. It has been years since I heard Mineral, and it takes me back. My wife is going to steal the inflatable wreath for her classroom, and my daughter and I have watched a few episodes of Captain Planet. The Broncos sweat shirt is awesome. I am going to wear it tomorrow to the game.

The only clue was that this person has been my secret Santa before. I have to guess Mean 3arls. Thanks man!

    glad you liked it dude!

and i'll post a pic of my current haul tomorrow, just getting back into the swing of things from the holidays
