Like right now, I'm at some random (and awesome) amateur wrestling event in Austin by myself and if I couldn't stand here and awkwardly chain smoke and drink beer, I don't know what I'd do with myself.

    Yessssss! Thank you! Adding these all to my list! Will see what's near me and what I can get to. I feel like there are sooooo many amazing things to eat while I'm there. So stoked. I know Waterloo is pretty close to where I'm staying, so definitely going to check that out. I want to go to end of an ear for sure too. Just need to figure out how to get there. Oh oh are you going to MCS? I saw that and got super excited since I'm not going to the nyc date (shitty venue and tix were insanely expensive. Like $60). I really want to go, but just wanted to make sure I could find my way back to my airbnb after since it's a bit far and I don't have a car.

    Hey folks! How's everyone on this fine Saturday? I'm still on my random spontaneous Texas mini adventure. Going to be heading down to Austin tomorrow for a few days. I've never been and don't really have much of a plan other than trying to eat all the food possible and hitting up a couple record stores and maybe going to a show or two. Anyone have any recommendations for things to eat, places to go, etc? @Thomas³? @texan4life? @deafening?

    I like Rough Trade as a venue, but hate it as a record store. It's just not enjoyable to shop at. It's super overpriced, horribly organized, and they use stupidly tall shelves so, as a 5' tall female, I can only seem to reach and flip through about 1/3 of the records there Every time i try to shop there, I wind up just getting super frustrated and walking out. Plus, I also kinda feel like it's bs that they got major preferential treatment for rsd when they first opened.

    I'm traveling and super bummed I missed these going up for sale this morning. Was going to jump on the ticket and vinyl bundle, but the nyc show is also sold out Huge bummer. I actually tried to get this album pressed a few years ago when i was working with a label, but it didn't wind up working out. Was so stoked to see someone else was finally pressing it and then totally crushed that I can't get a copy

    Damn. I grew up a couple blocks over from Other Music and it was definitely a big part of my high school years. OM and Kim's were the two places I knew I could always go to discover great new artists and find indie releases i wouldn't find anywhere else. Now both will be gone I know that's just a part of living in nyc for any extended period of time, but still sucks that pretty much none of the places I grew up with still exist at this point. Also, fuck Rough Trade. I hate that place so much.

    yeah. they had the p. so basically the p means that they sign a contract saying they will abide by certain rules and in return, get RSD exclusives, so they signed said contract, acted pretty shittily, and i told them they were being shitty. because they were.

    ugh. sadly, i had a bit of a falling out with my fave local store long story short, they participated in rsd for the first time ever this year and i was super stoked to go support them instead of my usual rsd spot. but they were kinda dicks about the whole thing and like flat out advertised that they were hoarding all their rsd titles for themselves and their friends and i kinda called them out on their bullshit. because. that's just pretty shitty. and now i'm not sure we're friends anymore
