I actually noticed the Whirr stuff on their Facebook the other day. Maybe it's my age showing but it just comes off as whining no matter what their intent is. My first thought was "oh this is their PR thing now, how original."

I guess what sucks from my point of view is that I kind of associate shoegaze with escapism and release of the ego etc... But this whole tough guy act has got my F*$KED up... The kicker? I'll still buy their music. (yes I know that's what you like to hear Graveface!) But I'm not down to go to their shows and watch some heckler actually get into a scrum... This dude needs help, I don't care how "real" he is being with himself, it's really only harmonious with those who deem his acts cool too while the rest of ponder to ourselves... Is this guy kidding? Is he forreal forreal? Haha

I was once told MGMT changed their sound because they didn't like the fan base their first record garnered them. I have no idea how much truth there is in that if any. It's a fairly funny story regardless.
