xadamhudsonx
Previously I reached out to the boards for help with a sound issue I was experiencing. I have only been able to get sound out of one speaker when using my turntable. I replaced all my cords, double checked connections, etc. Still no luck. I know it wasn't the speakers or receiver however since I got sound just fine when switched to the TV or using the aux port. Last weekend, thinking it might have been my pre-amp, I borrowed Janer05's old JVC receiver with a built in pre-amp. After hooking everything up I CAN get sound from both channels, however only when switched to mono (and with a noticeable decrease in sound quality). If I set the receiver to stereo I am back to sound in only one channel again (although better sounding than when on mono). At this point having essentially replaced everything but the turntable, and the turntable appearing to be working just fine... I'm at a loss as to where to go next. Any suggestions? allenh
Has to be somewhere between the cartridge and the turntables phono leads then. When you are putting this JVC receiver it is just spreading the working channel across both and it's quieter because one channel is missing. does your turntable have a removable headshell so that you can easily swap in a new one to try that? And if it has it could be the contacts on the end of the headshell. Otherwise you need to look at cartridge, headshell leads, headshell connections, arm wire and then phono lead but it's most likely to be one end or the other, i.e cartridge/headshell area or phono leads. If you know how to use a test meter you can test through for continuity and shorts in all the cabling and also test the cartridge coils. circuit bored records
Could also be that one of the RCA outs on the turntable died. Or it could be the leads like Allen said. Definitely something in the turntable though.

xxmartinxx
Did you ever have sound out of both sides? Did you do anything around the time it stopped working, assuming it once did? Did you check the connections on the back of the cartridge?
