Liam_drane
Hi guys, Got a technical question. I have an Ion Pure LP turntable, Marrantz PM5004 amp and Cambridge Audio SX50 speakers. I've only recently completed my set up, as I didn't have the money to buy it all together. I found that there is major feedback problem when everything is connected. From what I understand this is because the amp needs to be earthed to my turntable - the problem is that my turntable doesn't look like it has anything to connect to the earth cable. Is there a way to bypass or solve this problem? Do I need a pre amp? Do I need a different turntable? My girlfriend bought the turntable as a gift and I'd hate to sell it. I can supply pictures if need be. Liam
vinylfilmaholic
<in b4 the shit storm> You definitely need a different turntable sir. Other than that I have no idea what could be causing the feedback. So far you have a good pre-amp and speaker set up but the table is a HUGE weak link. slinch
Make sure you didn't connect it to the "phono" input on your marantz. Also, your girlfriend is making it clear that she wants you to stop buying records.

Should I stick it in the CD or Tuner or which audio output?

Should I stick it in the CD or Tuner or which audio output? 1. unless you're marrying her she shouldn't be budgeting you to anything 2. It doesn't matter what input you use, other than phono they're all the same.
Liam_drane
@dethrock you fixed it! Thanks so much. Also of I didn't have my girlfriend to make me budget I'd be flat broke. So yeah I probably will marry her cause I love her. Have a nice life. dethrock
