I'll give it a try it against my SR5008 stand alone and then with my PM8004 powering the fronts. It's too bad that the power channels aren't fully assignable. circuit bored records Posted May 4, 2015 Share Posted May 4, 2015 Yeah, I'd love to bi-amp my center channel as well, but I feel like the 7000 series marantz all push enough power per channel to where it wouldn't make a ton of difference for tom speakers. Tardcore Posted May 21, 2015 Author Share Posted May 21, 2015 Ended up keeping the SR5008 but I was able to score some MA RXFX surrounds to complete my upgrade. Right now I am using: Marantz SR5008 (powering Center and Surrounds) Marantz PM8004 (powering Fronts in amp only mode) Monitor Audio RX1s (Front) Monitor Audio RX Centre Monitor Audio RXFX (Surrounds) Monitor Audio RXW-12 (Sub) I got kind of lucky and was able to get really good deals on matching components (everything is in Walnut finish except for black surrounds).
