is there a difference?? -turntables

Recommended Posts

this may be a silly question but.....is there a difference in any way from a home turntable unit, and a "dj" turntable unit, besides that some arent automatic...i was checking out the stanton t.50 and numark 1600 at guitar center, and they seem to be pretty much the same (as home units), even the manual shows to hook up to home receiver....any thoughts or help???

I didn't think that DJ tables could be belt driven. I thought that the direct drive was the only way to enable scratching, but I could be wrong.

Either way, if you're not a DJ, don't get a DJ table. They are convenient, but you're paying for features that you won't use (like variable pitch).

I guess it would be better. The good thing with the DJ tables, they allow you to change your cartridge and set your tracking force.

so basically besides what has been stated above( some arent belt drive), there really is no difference, and the plus is you can change cartridges and adjustments!!....right??....thanks for the help man, i really appreciate it

i am thinking about buying one of these, both belt drives:

stanton t.50:

or

numark TT1600MKII

out of curiosity, what is wow and flutter??

i tend to agree, but the two i pointed out seem to be better than anything else for about $100

I recommend you pony up a little bit more and get something else. These are going to be kinda junkie, hollow plastic tables. Try buying a nice used one. I have a few friends with similar tables and they are not too bad, just kinda cheap.
