There's another comp that IS like this.

It's called "0 to 60 in 59 Bands" and is on No!No Records. It features bands such as Mischief Brew, The Orphans, Mutiny, and Los Drogas. It's pretty awesome.

The best thing about that comp was everyone found at least 4 or 5 great bands they had never heard of.

I remember buying this when I was like 13 on a vacation with my parents. I pretty much just listened to it over and over for the duration of the trip. These songs have stayed with me much longer than the crappy memories of that trip.
