europhreak
Can someone please provide some feedback on the following 3 turntables? Which one is the best option as an entry turntable that simply gives good sound quality. if you had a choice which one would you pick? and why? Marantz TT42P Pioneer PL-30 Denon DP-300F Thanks
jeremybentham
Look for a Technics SL-1300 through SL-1900. They can be found for ~$100. Great starter table. Edit: spend the extra hundred bucks and get a Music Hall or Rega, or ProJect or whatever.
allenh
There's nothing wrong with any of them as a starting point but all three are just a bit average and uninspiring and if I was in the market for a table at around $250 to $300 and it had to be new my money would go on a U turn Orbit Plus in preference to any of these three. Why? It has an acrylic platter, a decent cartridge, a uni pivot arm and isn't made of plastic in the far east. They are all pretty much of a muchness and you can do a lot better vintage for the same or less money or save up a bit more money and buy something better as has already been suggested. europhreak
are these automatic?.
allenh
Automatic isn't a plus for me so it's not something I look for but no the U Turn isn't automatic. Looking at your name are you in Europe? if so the U Turn is US only at the moment so the obvious choice would be Rega or Project, and they are not Automatic either. vinyl addict
Ive had the DP-300F for over a year. Not a single thing to complain about. Auto start and stop works flawlessly. Any questions you have, feel free to ask
europhreak
Does this Turntable have a built in phono out? http://www.crutchfield.com/S-tDuRYR3NCyQ/p_252DBT3USB/Pro-Ject-Debut-III-USB.html or would I need to buy something additional? vinyl addict
According to the link you provided, yes. Built in pre-amps never sound good though

Guest
Do you read? It says it below the name. I'd personally avoid anything with USB.

Guest
What's your budget? Why do you want an automatic table?
europhreak
up to $500. I guess it doesn't have to be automatic.
Guest
Rega RP1 Turntable, Music Hall MMF-2.2 Turntable, or Pro-Ject Debut Carbon DC. If you really want a built in preamp, which is usually advised against, the Denon DP-300F vinyl addict suggests might be good.

hiwattnick
I would go for a Technics direct drive. It doesn't have to be a SL1200 because they're getting pretty expensive. But there's other like the SL1700 & so on. I'd check ebay and get familiar with the Technics direct drives. Any of them are good really. Especially for a beginner. I've got a Technics SL 1200M3D & love it. I wouldn't trade it for anything. They're also easily moddable so you can upgrade them. I hope that helps.
