ajxd Posted May 24, 2016 Share Posted May 24, 2016 Any cartridge works, no one is required. Check the beginner's guide for more info. I think the 5 used to come equipped with a Sumiko Blue Point No2. Probably looking at the ortofon 2m red unless anyone has other suggestions around that price point? Or i can get an amazing deal on something better... On a more serious note the Sumiko is a superb cart for the money and being a high output MC works into an MM phono stage. edit And yes to my ears it's a lot nicer sound than the 2M Blue but you might not think so on first listen as like any MM cart the 2M blue is good at the upper mids but as you attune to the Sumiko you see it's good all the way up and down.
