kgry
"Misanthropy Pure" is the product of extreme attention to detail, with the band expanding on their signature melodic metalcore sound : Since when are they considered metalcore?
jhulud
They've always been labeled metalcore since day one by others. The few times I have spoken to the band about it, they never consider themselves metalcore.

jhulud
I agree w/ Darrell. Since day one they have always been a hardcore band. Just happens that Matt Fox grew up with and loves metal.

jhulud
The skinny on the "end" of Shai Hulud. They had decided they were going to end as a band under the name of Shai Hulud when Geert announced he was leaving the band. Matt Fletcher and Matt Fox were going to continue as The Warmth Of Red Blood. They would fulfill the rest of the tour w/ Geert and then part ways. At some point, more tour dates were announced and even though Geert was not in the band anymore, he would still sing for the time being. At some dates, even Chad joined them on vocals. So Geert leaves...for good...we hear nothing about anything...then suddenly they announce that they will continue as Shai Hulud. This time w/ Eric Dellon on vocals. More touring gets done. Around this time...2006 or so maybe...they announce getting signed to Metal Blade. Eric Dellon is out of the band. The search for a new singer goes. Write new record...record w/ Matt Mazzali. Release new record. Condensed version brought to you in part by the Guild of Misanthropy.
