Daggermouth - Turf Wars & Stallone on vinyl!

just got back from new york and found this, completely caught off guard by this but im stoked one way or another to see these records pressed. if you need any help please let me know. i got very far on turf wars and have a lot of work done with the record.

is it weird that i like FYS and SYG, but i don't like these guys? maybe it's just the songs on their myspace that weren't doing it for me. i'll probably buy the albums to support anyway, but as a heads up, are these albums better to listen to all the way through or will i still think the same?

I like them but I dont think its anything special at all. They seem to be like a boring version of SYG to me. I still like it and I would pick it up on vinyl but I think there are much better bands in the same type of genre

comparing them to either set your goals or four year strong is a bit silly to me. theyre fun pop music with none of these weird breakdowns.

SYG doesnt have any gimmicks at all. I guess you could say the keyboards are somewhat of a gimmick for FYS. They sound like Fall Out Boy with breakdowns and keyboards. I just think SYG writes far better songs that Daggermouth. I think of them as a diet SYG haha. Still like Daggermouth tho.

i'm gonna say that SYG definitely has heart. some of their songsare pretty serious and it's not like they haven't worked their asses off. it's not a joke band or anything

I really love SYG, but their "heart" is different. SYG write like a band detached from the subject matter no matter how emotional it is, while Daggermouth's songs are almost uncomfortable at times in how self reflective they are.

It's like Daggermouth is to Ruiner what SYG is to Verse. All great bands but the way they present their music is different.

I think daggermouth beats SYG on the sole reason that I don't have to deal with as many annoying, dumb kids at daggermouth shows.

I do enjoy both bands tremendously though.

Nothing beats the time I saw SYG at Romans in Brockton before they blew up. None of those annoying kids, just good friends and good fun.

I've seen them before they blew up too, It's amazing how the atmosphere of their shows have changed since then. Don't get me wrong I'm glad they are out there getting fans and getting paid but their shows are just kind of bummers to go to now.

i have friends who are into these guys. not really too big a fan though. these bands aren't bad. music-wise they're great. i just don't like the vocals. they sound too whiney for me. and i dont see the need for SYG to have two singers.

for real though, this record and band for that matter have been like my baby. these two albums more or less pushed me to want to start some sort of label. i couldnt be more excited to have this all going again.
