athomewithkyle
I'm thinking about asking for one for Christmas since the needle broke on my dad's old player. Does anyone have one? If so what are the +'s and -'s of it and where did you get it from? Thanks!
kyle
+ cheap + easy interface with your computer - flimsy build quality (mostly plastic) - poor sound quality I can see why they'd be interesting, but I'm not a fan.

Guest abravemorning
My parents bought me one for Christmas last year, and I love it. The sound quality is fine. My only complaints are the lack of standard turntable controls (you have no set the needle yourself) and there is no dust protection. Another real downside is ripping tracks can be a reach bitch. If you're patient and have some vinyl you want to put on your computer, I'd so go for it.
Guest abravemorning
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention mine is the Ion model.

Guest abravemorning
http://www.amazon.com/Ion-iTTUSB-Turntable-USB-Record/dp/B000BUEMOO That's the one I have right there.
markalark17
I heard that USB turntables have heavier arms so that they can play through the pops, to make a clearer recording, but because of the heavier arm, it also wears down the grooves. Is this true?
vivsavage
I asked for this one...http://www.amazon.com/Numark-TTUSB-Turnt....621 3089&sr=8-1 I've got this one. I like it for the price. The sound is decent, but I wish it had a dust cover and an auto-return. The software it comes with took me some time to get used to. As far as the weight of the arm, it has a counter-weight so you can adjust the amount of pressure on the needle.

It's a pain in the ass but I just take it in and out of the box. No dustcover is a big minus, though.
