minty
Hey y'all. I need to buy a new cartridge for my turntable because my old one bit the dust. Can someone recommend me one to get, keep in mind i'm on quite a small budget. The current one I have is a "Shure M75ED T2"...anyone know anything about it? There's one of eBay at the moment for £20 but i'm not sure if it's worth buying it again. Thanks in advance for any help.
ronniethebear
You don't have to get the same one again. Shure are pretty much bottom of the barrel if you're considering audiophile-quality stuff. I guess it depends on the rest of your system, though. minty
Nah I know I don't have to get the same one, but I was just wondering if it was worth it. I'm guessing that I won't be able to get a very good one on the budget i'm on...like £20/$40ish. My set-up is pretty retro. Garrard GT-35P table, ROTEL RX-304 and some pretty lame speakers. kyle
www.needledoctor.com Thanks, but that doesn't actually help. Links are nothing without recommendations, people! We don't even know what turntable you have. Regardless of that, in your price range ($40) any cartridge you buy falls into the extremely low budget price range and they're all pretty much going to perform the same. kyle
Oh god, I'm an idiot. Regardless, I'd just pick up a cartridge in your budget from Ortofon or Grado or something. Garrard made some good 'tables.
