andyfortson
I saw them a few years ago with Torche. I was right up against the stage, but the sound was absolutely fucking perfect. I don't remember it being extraordinarily loud or anything. I think Torche was louder.
scottheisel
Solution: Wear earplugs at any concert you go to as to not end up deaf by your 30s.
murakami
http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/node/145131 this also kind of answers it. and i like the idea of earplugs all the time - at least at non acoustic shows
akross
Solution: Wear earplugs at any concert you go to as to not end up deaf by your 30s. After having my ears abused at the Loved Ones/Hold Steady show (I somehow always end up in direct line with the speakers no matter which venue) I will be doing this. I don't go to shows often (no where near as many as you), but plugs will be with me from here on out.
manicdogbert
they're not as loud as they used to be as the last few albums have been relatively mellow compared to their early stuff but definitely take earplugs. judging by the songs they've been playing recently, there could be a couple of louder songs in the set. try not to be directly in front of John's or Stuart's amps because they're usually the ones that leave a wall of feedback for 10 minutes after the last song. i'm seeing them next week. it's gonna be my 5th time seeing them and i'm really excited as i didn't get to see them when they toured for Mr Beast. counterfiction
they're loud as fuck. they played here in lexington about two years back and blew the doors off of the place. i went to go use the bathroom and the fixtures were shaking. can't beat seeing Mogwai in a 400 cap room though. bring ear plugs. your ears will certainly thank you.
