invaderjay
On some records I play, my record player will stop automatically in the middle of a song. Anybody might know whats going on with that?

xjustinxschwierx
sometimes the record acetates are cut beyond the point where automatic returns will stop...one of many reasons why you should invest in a better turntable.

slinch
Well if it's automatic, especially if it's an old turntable, the mechanism that lifts and returns the arm (or just stops it, depending on the type of the table) wears out (gets screwed up). There's not really much you can do, unless you're a tech wizz and know how to "kill" the switch that starts automation. My old table used to do the auto-return right after it started playing and repeated it for 7-8 times, then it played normal again. That's when I realized I needed a new one. Since awhile ago, the cats knocked the whole damn thing off the table. I am taking it in.
invaderjay
Its been awhile since I looked at the problem on my record player. It has started to malfunction again. I was told in another forum that I had to recalibrate the auto-return. Anybody know how to go about this. Gotta save money by doing it myself. rrd
just open it up and disable whatever makes the arm auto return
