ok...so the Sweet Cobra / Get Rad split is getting sidelined until Sweet Cobra is done writing songs.

So that split won't be happening until later this fall/early winter...until then I'm instead going to do an 8 song one sided LP for Get Rad.(this will include the 3 songs that were going to be on the SC split + the other 5 songs(+ a hilarious intro track/ripoff) that were maybe going to be a solo 7" and make one EP out of them all.

Get Rad one sided LP is heading off to the plant this week.

new Mexican Cheerleader LP will be mastered at the same time

Me and Randy from Solidarity Recordings are sending a secret 7" to the plant this week as well, you'll find out what it is when we get them in.

after that in the fall/winter/spring I plan to get these started...

Methadones Not Economically Viable LP

Channels Open/Waiting for the Next End of the World 2xLP

Cutman/Stabbed By Words(ex Unbroken & Suicide File + Sweet Cobra/Suicide Note mbr) 7" edit: probably not happening anytime soon

Get Rad/Sweet Cobra split 7"

Capital LP #3

(also still in the works)

Eventual Olehole 7"

Hellmouth / Explode and Make Up split 7"

are you ever gonna press the first mexican chearledear cd?

my plan is to eventually do that one, kings and kings' hoots and mexican mystery tour, but as it's a pretty massive amount of money to throw into a band that doesn't play all that often and cannot tour it'll eventually happen and that's all I can tell ya. Unless I win the lottery or find a sugar momma...one of these days.

Here's a slightly ridiculous update that Brian from Olehole posted tonight on Facebook.

A 2010 Olehole Update

Doth mine eyes not deceive me? Tis true. We're playing a show in April. What's more you ask? We're recording (with Jackson behind the knobs and faders) 4 songs for an upcoming Underground Communique release this weekend! Yeah, we know... just like that killer band Staind said, "it's been awhile." (insert Guitar Center hot lick here) Well, Ian's been crazy busy touring all around the planet with Dead To Me (their new record demolishes by the way and you should absolutely give it a whirl), I've been paralyzed by work, my teaching credential program, and finishing up the new Hanalei record, and Kuntz and Danthrax have been toiling away at work and with their other band (Drowning With Our Anchors who are fat with a ph). However, everyone knows you can't keep a playa down. The upcoming show with Tubers (ex Twelve Hour Turn) is gonna be bodacious and we're stoked on our new songs. We'll also hopefully be playing more shows as winter fades into the days of bumble bees, butterflies, daffodils, and beer-b-qs. We have some packaging/art ideas for the new record, tentatively entitled "Guacamole" (yes, we're fucking serious), that will shatter your little brains. Anyhow, I'll shut up now. Take that, 2010.

-Brian

P.S. Collective Soul fans up in this bitch lemme hear ya say "yyyyaaaaaaaaahhhh."

4.3.10

Big Kids/Stoakland (split set)

Olehole

Tubers (ex-Twelve Hour Turn!)

Wild Assumptions

I don't have a listing up for it yet, but I will soon. Our record release show will be on April 17th at the Mutiny in Chicago. Should have the test pressings literally any day now. We ordered 35 test presses, which we're going to sell as a record release show version, and then there will be 300 regular copies. We'll probably hook up some sort of ghetto download too. Screened B-sides! Should be cool.

Hi Everyone,

It's been quite a while since I sent out an update, so I stayed in last to give you the update on the recent activity and upcoming news for the label...

Topics:

- Out Now / New Releases

- New Webstore on April 1

- Coming Soon!

- Bands on Tour!

--------------------------

Out Now / New Releases:

It's been a "when it rains, it pours" kind of year so far! I had a barrage of records come in and this is only the beginning...look out! 2010 is gonna be craaaaazy!

1. Voice in the Wire "Signals in Transmission" LP (on Steelers colors: gold and black)

One of Pittsburgh's finest punk rock bands ever, comes back to life, sorta. This album came out in 2005 on Eyeball Records and the band did some touring but called it quits not long after it's release, but the album has been a personal favorite record for quite some time and when I ran into one of their guitarists last year at Fest 8, he told me there was talk of a reunion in 2010...yada yada yada...we have the LP and the band played two awesome hometown reunion shows in Steeltown to many stoked kids who never got to see them and many old friends re-celebrating the greatness of the band. It was a really inspiring weekend and the guys in the band couldn't have been more grateful and amazing to me for re-releasing the record. Many thanks also go to the Lock & Key Collective in Pittsburgh for their hard work silk screening the covers and to Alex from Eyeball for allowing this to happen in general. If you haven't checked these guys out yet, they're like a melodic hardcore band for fans of None More Black (Jason Shevchuk even does backups on the record!), Pegboy & Strike Anywhere. Stay tuned, the February reunion shows may not be the last we hear of this band playing shows!

The record is available now here:

http://undercomm.bigcartel.com/artist/voice-in-the-wire

http://interpunk.com/item.cfm?Item=52872&

available next week @ http://www.noidearecords.com/catalog (They have them, they're just not up on the site yet)

2. Get Rad "What the Fuck Happened to Common Sense" one side LP (on marble blue or marble grey vinyl)

Another record that really reminds me how much I love hardcore. Get Rad have been kicking around the midwest for 5 years and have recorded like a million songs, but the 9 that are on this LP, just might be their best yet! Get Rad fuses the rage of Minor Threat style hardcore with a sense of controlled chaos that few can even attempt, but then topped off with lyrics that are serious, but with delivered from an amusing point of view by one . The band is just ridiculously good and I'm so stoked to be a part of this record.

RevHQ.com describes this record as:

"Despite the silly name, Get Rad play some serious hardcore punk with speed and melody. Kevin, formerly of Since By Man, barks politically and socially-charged lyrics with the same ferocity as bands like Small Brown Bike and Hot Water Music, layered over music comparable to Dag Nasty or Strike Anywhere. LP includes digital download."

(Also note: their new full LP is coming out very soon by Gilead Media & Hyperrealist Records co-releasing it!)

3. the Methadones "Career Objective" LP (2nd Press) on black and marble blue

FINALLY!!!! Waiting in limbo for like damn near 2 years, the re-re-press of this amazing record showed up. I ordered this re-press in April 2008, then the plant broke one of my plates, had that re-plated, and then the second pressing they send me were all warped so that one side was un-playable...but finally I caught a sympathetic quality control person at the plant and wallah! these showed up one rainy day in February.

This is the bands second album, many people consider this their favorite Methadones LP, it's like hit after hit after hit on this one. One of the best pop-punk records to ever come out of Chicago! Don't forget to check out the split LP with the Copyrights and the "I believe / Exit 17" 7" single as well(among the others in the distro!!)!!

"Say Goodbye to Your Generation" video:

New Webstore on April 1st

Yep, it's true, I'm currently transitioning all of the info for the UCR distro over to www.undercomm.storenvy.com. Though the Big Cartel store has been great, the new store (will be located at: http://undercomm.storenvy.com) I'm moving over because their system allows for UNLIMITED store items, so that will allow the distro to grow a little bit, the Big Cartel system limits me to 100 items, it's not going to get too crazy, but I need room to grow!! So expect bigger and better things in the coming months...

Coming Soon

1.secret co-released 7" with Solidarity Recordings - www.SolidarityRecordings.com...soon!! (we're waiting on test pressings)

2.Mexican Cheerleader "Genghis Puss" LP

3.Hellmouth / Explode and Make Up split 7"

4.the Methadones "Not Economically Viable" LP

.....more new release announcements to come too!!

did i miss that Cutman split 7"? i just read this page and never noticed if it ever came out.

nothing happened/progressed with that idea...so bummed.

I've been playing phone tag with Jonathan about that for a while...sadly, not sure if that's going to materialize, Derron moved to Atlanta...I hope they're still gonna continue.

it sucks it happens though...we come up with an idea, everyone is stoked on it and then one thing leads to another and it's a year later and the bands haven't recorded...if i had an ounce of talent playing bass, I'd move to Florida just to play bass in that band. seriously.

if you're bored at work tomorrow...here's a fun interview I did a few weeks back for www.onekindradio.com.

This one was a lot of fun to do. The actual interview was looong, so I hope John was able to edit down some of my rambling tangents.
