NYC Theatres

Recommended Posts

We were talking about musicals the other day. I just booked a trip to NYC for nothing and I think it would be fun to go see a musical while I'm there, surprise the GF and all that business. I'd like to see either Wicked or The Lion King.

Wicked is at the Gershwin Theatre

and

The Lion King is at Minskoff Theatre

Which theatre do you prefer?

The Gershwin is where I saw Wicked. It was a cool theater/stage. The play was really well done, I enjoyed it well enough, but everyone I was with loved it. I saw Lion King at the New Amsterdam, so I can't speak on the Minskoff, but it was a really cool production. It was my favorite. The sets/props/costumes are just fantastic. If you've never been to a broadway theater, be prepared to squeeze. If you're a big guy, and not getting rush tickets, you may want to call and speak to someone personally and try to get seats with a little extra room. And try not to take too much stuff (camera, bag, large coat, etc), cause there's seriously no extra space.
