gdopiv
Has anyone else picked up the Geffen/Universal Music press of Dude Ranch from Hot Topic and actually listened to it? I picked one up and track 3, Dammit, skipped at ~1:21. I took it back and exchanged it for another and it skips in exactly the same place. I'm not sure how I could get 2 records damaged identically. Could they have really pressed it without listening to a test? Glad I ordered it from Mightier Than Sword as well - I've heard good things about their releases. Any info would be appreciated! scottheisel
This reminds me: Did the MTS version of this ever ship? I'm still waiting on mine.
travis
This reminds me: Did the MTS version of this ever ship? I'm still waiting on mine. I think they either shipped or are in the process of being shipped out.

gdopiv
Here's a link to a short (8 sec) mp3 file that illustrates the skip [actual skip 1:21]: http://www.gdopivproductions.com/Dammit_Skipping.mp3 It cuts out "this is growing up" - so there's a decent chunk of song missing. The vinyl is clean and looks scratch free. Both of my copies were purchased at hot topics in southern california.

chiefwahoo
Here's a link to a short (8 sec) mp3 file that illustrates the skip [actual skip 1:21]: http://www.gdopivproductions.com/Dammit_Skipping.mp3It cuts out "this is growing up" - so there's a decent chunk of song missing. The vinyl is clean and looks scratch free. Both of my copies were purchased at hot topics in southern california. I just checked my copy on both of my turntables. I usually think people are full of shit when it comes to this, but there is a definite click in that same exact spot, immediately after he sings "growing". It doesn't skip on my turntables but I can see where it would on others. The reason appears to be a dimple in the vinyl, I can see it quite clearly under a strong light. I'd never notice this click in a million years. So while you are right about the defect, I'm going to guess that your table isn't set up right.
