kirbypuckett
Going back to work after a vacation is a terrible feeling! The day I went back I had two very important things I had to do at 7am. That was brutal, but I only had 40 e-mails which is shocking for taking a week off. Pro tip: Leave your out of office on for a few hours to catch up. lonesomexloveus
i was only gone for 3 days and i had 58 emails :[ including a 'your mailbox is almost full!' one. ugh. also, no one did my attorney's work like they were supposed to. well, they did about 10% of it, leaving me with a ridiculously full inbox. whine whine whine. devinr
My boss denied my last four vacation requests because we are short staffed. She finally approved one for the end of September. I'll be gone for 17 days and in Florida for half that. I can't wait.

pastepunk
The nature of my lawyer work in short is that I send out official letters about their trademark application and the recipients must respond to them by a certain deadline. It's the classic setup for having a ton of stuff back-up if you take a week off, not to mention all of the emails, policy/legal announcements that happen each week. Since we're on a production system, that work has to get done by you regardless and can't be assigned to others unless you take more than a month off. I didn't take a vacation from work for nearly 2.5 years after starting b/c I simply feared what would happen when coming back.
