markalark17
I listened to this album for the first time in a long time last night, and was (once again) surprised at how different it is from all of their other albums. I just thought it would be interesting to see what everyone else's reactions/opinions are about this album. readygo
counterfiction
it's genius. i could listen to it over and over and over and over and over. oh, and then over again. it's different but I don't think that it's as much of a departure as everyone seems to think it is. markalark17
Yeah, that's true. They do a lot more voice dubbing on this album though. Or is that just me?
brammyg
I like Radiohead better when they play instruments. Kid A is amazing, don't get me wrong, but I enjoyed Ok Computer much more. However, "Idioteque" from the I Might Be Wrong recordings is one of the best live renditions of any song I have ever heard. Seriously, listen to it now if you have it. Guest scriptedrain
I think the album is genius. I don't throw that word around for any albums, but that's truly how I feel.

I have to agree, I think OK Computer is their best record to date, however the more I listen to the later albums the more I like them. I didnt really like In Rainbows the first time I heard it but now that I bought it on vinyl I have listened to it several times and it is amazing. They are trully a band that deserves the praise they recieve.

xlovecolouredx
born in 60s children have a good time which they into music in the era of pink floyd and born in 80s children have a good time which they (count me in) into music in the era of radiohead.... brammyg
Unreal is exactly right. There's just something about the way Thom is singing with the crowd. Especially during the line "This is really happeningg". Haha anyways... I love In Rainbows and it sounds great on vinyl. I don't think I listened to the second half of the album until I bought it. The MP3's didn't do it for me. Maybe I just need to give Kid A a few more listens before it completly makes sense to me.
scottheisel
it's genius. i could listen to it over and over and over and over and over. oh, and then over again. QFT A truly transcendent album. Easily in my Top 10 of all time. It blew my mind when I first heard it, and it still blows my mind now.
kirbypuckett
I couldn't think of what to listen to this morning, I've been listening to Art Burt and enjoying it, but it's not hitting the spot. I'll put on Kid A and see where it takes me.
skumbucket
i too will put it on right now. i haven't listened to it in a dog's age. i do remember, however, suspecting when "amnesiac" came out that "kid a" was only constructed and released to make "amnesiac" more palatable. but if that's the case, they fucked up because "kid a" is cool as hell. skumbucket
1/5 of the way through: all i can think is that this is what it sounds like inside of thom yorke's head. all ambient, ethereal washes of noise with muffled voices bordering on inaudible. and then a funky bassline kicks in. skumbucket
2/5 of the way through: "how to disappear completely" would sound great on a radiohead mix tape precluding "street spirit."
skumbucket
1/2 of the way through: i remember hearing "optomistic" on radio stations here and being confused as fuck, since i'd never heard a single radiohead song on the radio in this city in my entire life
skumbucket
4/5 of the way through: "idoteque" was the ONLY song i gravitated to the first half-dozen times i listened to this record. i still include it on the occasional mix tape. what an amazing song. skumbucket
done: one of the prettiest closing tracks ever. more songs should have harp in them. in summation, this album is a total trip. as much as i like it, which is a lot, i can barely connect it to radiohead in my mind. it's like REM's "up"; an amazing step outside of what you're used to, but it just doesn't quit gel (at the time). it fits better now with the subsequent albums, but it's still probably my least-listened to radiohead lp.
