Original mixes vs. alternate mixes

Recommended Posts

As some people already know, I'm putting out Weatherbox's American Art out on vinyl later this year—it's one of my all-time favorite records, and I'm absolutely thrilled to be doing it.

As Brian and I were going over stuff, he mentioned that there was an alternate mix of the record that no one had ever heard before, and sent it over. Some songs sound pretty close to the CD version that everyone would already be accustomed to, but some tracks sounded drastically different (in new and exciting ways, if you ask me).

So my question is this: If you were to purchase the vinyl version of an album you've already owned in another format for years, would you rather hear the album as you've always heard it or would you rather get an alternate mix of the album?
