Record Sale in New Orleans, LA (11-12-11)

Recommended Posts

If you're in or around New Orleans tomorrow, we have a big record sale where myself plus 20-something other vendors will be selling vinyl for six hours at a few cool venues:

New Orleans Record Raid

Saturday, November 12 · 12:00pm - 6:30pm

Location

Siberia + Hi-Ho Lounge + AllWays

2200ish St. Claude Ave.

New Orleans, LA

BACK AGAIN! The largest, bestest record show in Louisiana, is making a fall showing, with more vendors, more records, and more fun.

Siberia and Hi-Ho worked out well in July so we're going back -- but now we've got the extra space of the All-Ways Lounge to work with too!

45s, LPs, CDs, cassettes and more from storefronts and private vendors from all over the gulf south region ready for you to spin around and around.

FREE Entry and open to everyone!

Glad to see New Orleans records stores are still kicking. After the hurricane one of my favorite shops closed and moved to Austin. The owner said he was fine (located in the French Quarter) but all his customers lost their collections so they just quit collecting. I heard similar stories about other stores too. So good. Used to be my favorite place to go record shopping when I lived in Alabama. Actually it was just my favorite place period when I lived in Alabama. Not much going on there.

I know that guy's place in the Quarter on Decatur. Such a small place, but wall-to-wall records. I went in there a number of times. There's a few places still open after Katrina (The Mushroom (Uptown), Jim Russell's Records (on Magazine), and Louisiana Music Factor (in the Quarter near Canal Street) but for the most part it's a bunch of new stores opened.

My favorite places in the city are:

Skully'z on Bourbon (in the gay district)

Euclid (in the Bywater)

Domino Sound Shack (in the Marigny)

Skully'z was around before Katrina but the others are new. I just sell extras and things I'm trying to get rid of. It turned into a side job but I wish I could do it full time.
