withengineheart
Just found out that come fall I'll start work at the local record shop (woop woop). In the meantime I've been helping out with renovating the place for their re-opening in a few weeks time. I'm pretty damn stoked on the idea, so I'd thought I'd share. In order to compete with chains and a general public disinterest in buying records, the shop is expanding their business from solely a record store to a record store/pub cafe/small stage venue to basically stay afloat in a town when people mainly spend money on clothes and alcohol. I'm definitely excited about this change. Can't wait to sit down after work, enjoy a beer and recommend records. Next week we'll be installing a wall of import tap beer! Way pumped. So I's wunderin': Do any of you frequent or know of record stores that have expanded or found creative ways of getting people in the door? controlthebleeding
all the ones where i live are just stores that strictly sell music and have in-stores. nothing more. they get by without the need to co-exist with a variation of bar / beer garden/ laundry mat / houka place

Emo Revival
There's one near me here in Philly that is a pretty sweet Pub/Burger place up stairs and then an awesome record store down stair. I love it cause the GF like the burgers and will have a beer or two while a shop. Makes it much easier to convince her to go record shopping with me.
