Turntable for under $100 (help me choose)

So I just sold my horrible Ion Profile LP Turntable to do a little upgrade. Not looking for anything spectacular, but would like something better built.

At the moment, I am looking at the Audio Technica AT-LP60 off Amazon based on some good reviews that I've seen.

Any opinions on that turntable or other suggestions? Again, not looking for anything incredible, just a solid record player to hook up to my sound system.

There a lot of good vintage turntables on eBay

Calling a move from an Ion to the LP60 an "upgrade" is a stretch, to say the least. If you're stuck at $100, then vintage will probably give you the biggest bang for your buck. I suggest one of the better-build technics direct drive models from the late 70s. You can probably find one that has been well cared for in the $100 - $150 range.

You could also wait and see what happens with the new $150 "audiophile" turntable from U-Turn

I own an LP60 and it's reliability when compared to the few vintage tables I've owned is well worth it. Plus, to me it sounds great!

 

That said, I may be in for one of those U-Turn tables..
