Ent
that's the preamp here's what the wiring for the tt looks like and the preamp... this is where everything is plugged in and the speakers... my setup: pro-ject carbon tt parasound zphono pre amp samson mediaone 3a monitors standard auvio rca cables (just got these today at radioshack I got a new tt and preamp in the mail today but ever since I plugged it in with the speakers I've had for almost a year (with zero problems) i've had a horrible buzzing sound. I fiddled around with just about everything and the only thing that gets rid of this buzzing noise is switching a switch on the back of the preamp from MM to MC but when it's on MC the music sounds very compressed and quiet. i posted this in the hi fi for beginners thread as well but that thread is no longer loading on my computer anymore for some reason...plus I figured making a new thread would attract more creative ideas to help me! Thanks in advance to all the masters on this forum!
slinch
Not sure if PMs are working, so yeah, just do this and you're set (third picture):
allenh
As Slinch has shown in his pictures the Turntable needs to be grounded at the pre amp. The MM/MC switch is for different types of cartridge. A MM cartridge generally has a higher output level than an MC one.

ajxd
As everyone has said. That photo is the giveaway. Connect the ground cable to the post on the pre.
steviex2shoes
Just posted this in the other thread for you: do the same thing with the other end of the cable on your Carbon.
