Tardcore
just throwing this out there in case anybody is in the market for Emotiva gear. I picked up an XDA-2 (shhhh don't tell anybody) for $100 off. Trying to convince myself that I do not need a pair of XPA-100s.
ajxd
I almost bought a XDA-2 when I bought my DacMagic. I'm on the fence with Emotiva gear... but I think it can potentially be awesome.
Tardcore
the DAC magic has been on sale recently too...($300 vs $370 street price) might be a new model coming out...? I was considering a few different options (DAC Magic included), but the sale price prompted me to pull the trigger and try out the XDA-2. I haven't heard one, but the reviews seem to be positive. slinch
Well the new Dacmagic Plus and Dacmagic 100 have been out for over a year now, so that's why the previous model is down in price. As for Emotiva gear, their pieces cost 40% more here because of all the shipping/import costs, and are still very competitive in those price ranges. So the US prices, minus the discount, are an absolute steal.
b_demarco
I've always been curious about emotiva, but picked up a Cambridge azur integ a few months back, so I'm going to try and keep cambridge in the family, even though I have a JD-9. I also did notice the DACmagic's on sale til Dec 2013
jdtg
Any input/opinions on the X-ref towers or the X-ref monitors, compared to say Wharfdale diamond 10.1, Focal chorus 705, Epic 1?
Tardcore
I do not know much about their speakers. You could probably do a lot worse for the money...but I think I would likely stick with a well-traveled budget solution like the 10.1s etc. I'm pretty bummed that I missed the sale on Epic 2s. Tardcore
got my XDA-2 and am really enjoying it. I always thought Emotiva's styling made their stuff look cheap/poorly constructed but this thing is a tank. The remote feels like a solid block of aluminum. Oh. and I guess it sound ok too.
