New to shipping records

Recommended Posts

Hey guys. I'm shipping my first records and have a question!

I've bought on here a ton and have mailers around. I've packaged up a 12" in a standard mailer, with two cardboard inserts, and a 7" in a standard 7" mailer with two cardboard inserts.

We had a scale around the house that I can't seem to find. I know I can go to the post office to do this but would rather print the labels from home rather than weighing the packages there.

What would a standard 12" record/sleeve (not a gatefold jacket, just typical record sleeve) and two cardboard inserts weigh? Also the same for a 7"?

Thanks!

I recently ordered a couple of 7" and a standard 12", and I kept those mailers with the postage still on. Both of the 7" are 6 oz first class and the 12" is 2 lbs media mail. You could probably do a little less for the 12", but since you are not sure, I would just go with 2 lbs for now.

Sweet! I really appreciate the replies. I would just go to weigh, but it seems a lot easier to just print the labels online and just stop by and drop them off at the post office. I just did media for both, 7" at 13.0oz and the 12" at 2lb. Both were right around 3$ each for shipping.
