tvham
Long story short, I bought a pair of Paradigm 9se speakers 10+ years ago, used them for a bit then loaned them to a friend when I moved into a small apartment and forgot all about them. He recently returned them and I thought I'd like to use them as part of a budget friendly system - thinking of pairing with the Marantz PM 6004. Does anyone have any experience with this amp and these speakers? HOWEVER, as you can see from the pics, all four dust caps have been pushed in to some varying degree. Do I attempt to fix these? If so, how? Or do I leave them as is and see how they sound once I get the amp? TL/DR - look at these pics and tell me what to do!
piky0032
vacuum? but i couldn't imagine that would be a great fix
castaway
^I was thinking the same exact thing. Obviously not a super suction-y one though, as it might rip it and ruin it even more. piky0032
kannibal
Vacuum is the way to do it, but again, you have to careful not to hurt anything more.
kannibal
It won't hurt them to use them as is, either. I used a pair of JVC floorstanding speakers with caps pushed in worse than those for about 10 years. I thought they would tear or otherwise become worse but they never did. tvham
jase
Yep, vacuum. Turn the suction as low as you can, then slowly move the nozzle toward the cone. Sometimes it'll pop out easy, without even touching. Other times you may need the nozzle to touch the cone itself. Super easy, and super quick
allenh
Blu tak can work but the vacuum is usually best
jase
BLUTAK! Did not even think of that. I kind of want to take a large amount of blutak with me next time I go thrifting hahaha
allenh
It's not as effective as a hoover but if you're really stuck it can work, not great on plastic or harder materials as these crease. It should work on the speakers the OP has
tvham
Thanks all...I have a cheap ass vacuum that has little suction, I'll give that a shot first.
