Is graham coxon back in the band?
-
So far, this album is bad. I can definitely see why they were dropped. And this new track is a complete waste of Ian Anderson. I'm not a huge JT fan, but still, seems like he could be put to better use. And while JTB has never been known for having super deep lyrics, the lyrics to this song are on a whole new level of bad, they're cringe worthy. What the fuck happened? How can this be the same band that gave us Heavy Days??

I keep thinking this says Pulp and I get excited only to realize it doesn't...

You know what sucks? I didn't see that there was an option to buy only the white vinyl from Kingsroadmerch. They hid the music only in a weird tab that doesn't look like a link at all. So now I have a shirt coming that I will never wear. Oops.

weird, I was gonna leisurely head to the mall in Grand Rapids and pick one up. I thought for sure it would be there because nobody around here cares. Guess I was wrong!
We should start a Grand Rapids record club :-)

More similar to Mechanical Animals ?
Definitely.

This is a great record. It's got a lot more glam rock sound that the 90's industrial holdover sound he's been doing. You can hear the New York Dolls, Bowie, and T.Rex influence for sure.
Can anyone get their hand on an extra 10" for me? I'll pay you for your trouble!

I better sell some stuff to buy some stuff I'll eventually sell at a loss.
At least I'm not alone...

Translucent colors are supposed to sound better than opaque colors, excluding black of course.
Not according to some on this board. Though this is the conclusion I've come to. And there's a jazz label that only presses on clear vinyl for that reason. I'm pretty sure there's something to it.
-
Sorry I tried to lend some insight. Carry on with your colored vinyl collecting.
-
Black vinyl is opaque vinyl too.
Not like white or pastel is. White pigment is a different beast than black. Hard to explain... Also if you hold black up to the light you can usually see through it. It tends to be translucent. It takes less pigment to make something look black than solid white. Does that make sense?

Let's see... I've played a split color lp, clear green on one side, opaque white on the other. Surface noise increased as it plays over the opaque white. Is this an exception? Possibly. But from my observations, opaque colors have more clicks and an overall higher noise floor. I have black ones that are noisy too, usually from the 70s or new pressed at United. Go figure.wah wah wah wah.
i have a lot of colored records that sound better than plain black. There also isn't any concrete proof that plain black is better sounding than color. People say that based on what they own, and i just said the opposite. So now who is right.
Then again, maybe all colors sound equally shitty on your Crosley... :-)

I think the only part of the vinyl craze getting out of hand is all the crazy color combinations the plants keep trying to do. The more whacky colored vinyl I see, the more I want a plain black variant available.
Honestly, if labels/artists didn't want such elaborate color schemes, production would probably go much faster.
Color irritates me because it's usually case of fashion over function; colors, opaque more so than others, tend to be noisy. And to people who do buy expensive turntables and play their records, this sucks. Clear colors usually sound fine, but those ugly ass opaque splatter bullshit colors... They look like shit and usually sound worse.

I'm glad I got lucky with my MM collection. Picked up Mechanical Animals about ten years ago for $6.50, and Holy Wood for $20 about five years ago. Still need Golden Age...

The new album is pretty good. Nice and glam rock sounding.

Do you mean for Singles 2 or the new 7"? Singles definitely seems like it's a standard release. Part of me was expecting the new 7" to be special in some way because it looks so similar to the Feel "test pressing" that was available at SXSW.
I was thinking specifically about Singles 2. I think there was speculation after the colored variant of Manipulator that they would do something similar. But I think some would have shown up by now if that was the case.
For what it's worth, this compilation is great. And the pressing is flawless.
-
I'm assuming there's no variant. There would be some in eBay by now and there isn't.

You get the johnny thunders soundtrack or the 10"? If it's the 10" I'd be up for a trade.
I got both...
-
This day, both RSD's really... I always have buyers remorse afterwards. I only bought a few things, Green Day, Judas Priest, Johnny Thunders, but I might as well just have digital versions only. I will never, ever play these records beyond just recording them. Sigh...

It seems like this year is a bunch if really lame shit. I think there are four things on my list that I only kinda want. Am I alone in thinking this?
-
I ordered the one from the UK... Something about a glow in the dark cover. I guess that's cool since I missed the Castleface variation. I'm also hoping this album grows on me. Their previous one is great, this one is taking a bit to get into.

Thanks for the heads up. Definitely a good deal on the bundle.
