We've sold through the "highway strip" vinyl and the white vinyl is going quickly FYI!

Howdy. We'll be going live with leftovers at 8:30pm sharp. www.1234gorecords.com/recordstoreday We expect to have a ton because we're hard capped at serving maybe 20% of the number of people we normally do on the day and we got great fills on some of the bigger titles.

We are very excited to announce we are re-issuing the Big Rig "Expansive Heart" 7" original on Lookout! Records. Big Rig was a very short lived project from Jesse Michaels (Operation Ivy, Common Rider, Classics of Love), Doug Sangalang (Screw 32, Limp, One Time Angels), Kevin Cross (The Nerve Agents, Pitch Black), Jeremy Goody (Pitch Black) and Brandon Riggen. This was Jesse's first recorded project post Operation Ivy and the band rose and fell very quickly in 1993. They played a single show and left behind a demo and this EP.Order now at www.1234gorecords.com/1234goreleasesThis is a vastly under appreciated piece of east bay punk, a hidden gem of the Lookout catalog and personally one of my favorite records. We’re producing 1000 total copies housed in a faithful reproduction of the original 8 panel booklet/sleeve. 800 copies are available on WHITE vinyl and 200 on "Highway Strip" color vinyl. We expect these to start shipping on or around October 1st. Revolver will have these available for wholesale if you're a store or distro. Info from them is coming soon.

Hey All,
Obviously with the ongoing pandemic we have to shake things up around here but we feel like we've found a fairly good solution. Barring any mishaps we are offering appointments for specific 20 minute time slots with a maximum of 5 people in the shop at a time. We did this to eliminate the need for a line at all and to maximize the number of people we can safely bring in to the shop. We're a little late coming here to tell you all so unfortunately we're already sold out for in store shopping this month but I did want to say that leftovers (and we expect a TON) will be available on our website www.1234gorecords.com shortly after we close at 8pm. If I get an exact time I will come back and post that but I'm assuming some time between 8:15 and 8:45 at the latest.
We are going to see how this all goes this month before moving forward with next month. We'll be making the announcement about September within a week after August 29th so we can make adjustments if needed. We'll do three days of warnings/announcements on social media ahead of the appointments going up so hopefully we can avoid a situation where people feel blindsided. I'm not sure what else I can do beyond that given everything that's at play. Anyway thank you all for your continued interest and support. We'd be sunk without you!

Well shit. I bought the Hold Steady 10-inch through your Discogs store the other day. Wish I would’ve waited!
I mean that's running a risk of not getting it though. I'm shocked the 3 copies we had left when I posted this were still around.

Speaking of leftovers, we may be getting some more Pearl Jam in soon.

We ended up getting one per store and they went quick obviously. Something tells me there was less than that out there.

Hey All,
Looking to blow out the few remaining copies of some Black Friday releases so we've knocked down the prices of pretty much everything but a few items that actually showed up this week. Have a look at whats left over at http://www.1234gorecords.com/recordstoreday

I usually hit the same four record stores every year. Always 1234 go first. They consistently have the best inventory and prices. I drive 100 miles past the other three to line up there and typically don't buy any rsd releases anywhere else.
Soooo appreciated!

Just added Chet Baker, Monster movie and a few other things we missed somehow.

Of course larger stores with massive customer bases and order histories should get more stock but it is really hard to take seeing all these stores throwing mass amounts of “leftovers” up online the next day. I have never had a “leftover”. Ever. I don’t get enough stock to even cover my requests, let alone have “extras”. I have no idea how to make it more fair and balanced but it certainly isn’t currently. I mean, my customers have no other option. I am the only store in the area. If I don’t get what they want they either have to drive for a couple of hours to the next closest store or they just don’t get it. My customers love music and collecting vinyl just as much as everyone else but feel like they get shorted because of where they live.
As a store owner myself I disagree that larger stores should be serviced at the expense of smaller stores. It basically sets a dynamic that keeps the bigger stores bigger and the smaller ones smaller. If that was in place my shop wouldn't be anywhere near as successful as we are because everything would just go to Amoeba and we'd be left with ones and twos. This Plaid Room thing is plain weird. That is way more copies than anyone should receive in any situation barring the band playing there or something crazy like that and I intend to ask what the story is with the RSD folks

Well that certainly might be the case and I guess that is something I could also do but quite frankly even if they ordered from all of the participating distributors they shouldn’t be able to get that many. I mean if they have 300 left over how many did they have to start with? 500? 1k? It’s an 8k pressing so you are talking about one store getting almost 10% of them. There are around 1,500 stores in the US. Granted not all of them participate in RSD but still. I use “Alliance” as my distributor for transparency sake. Who told me at one point they service around 80% of all participating stores... something doesn’t add up somewhere.
Something is definitely fishy. Is the owner of Plaid room affiliated with RSD directly at all?

I heard the owner of my local store saying he could order the same records through multiple distributors. He had a decent haul. My guess is the same happens for a place like Plaid Room. And if they keep moving units, the distributors will keep rewarding them.
That's true of everyone and still would not account for a haul that large. Not only are they supposed to communicate but even across the handful of distributors combined they should not have been able to amass that many if allocation was happening correctly.

More National and Tune Yards should be hitting the store maybe today or monday. Matador screwed up and shipped it ground so we're still waiting on it.

Apparently you were lucky to get one as I wasn’t able to get any for my store at all. I’m very disheartened by the “allocation” processes over the last few years. Especially with releases like the Phish LP this year. I ordered multiple copies for my store and was only able to get one. I was turning people away all day, yet Plaid Room has almost 300 copies to sell online the next day. I mean, why get up and get in line at my store next year when I probably won’t have what you want and you can just get up the next day and order it in your pajamas. Defeats the entire point. Granted I have a very small store and probably could have only sold 20 copies or so but that is 20 copies that would have been sold at an actual record store.
I'm very curious to hear why Plaid room had all those copies. That should not be happening.

Totally struck out on Desperado OST (I didn't go, try, etc). At 39.99, I may continue to strike out for a long time. It looks nice, probably a CD transfer, but I'm sure it sounds okay, but damn $

Celebrated Summer records in Baltimore had a couple this morning, but no Squirrel Nut Zippers, what I was looking for.

Sound Garden in Baltimore got ONE COPY! 😒
No one but Third Man got more than 1 unfortunately. Third man got backlogged pressing the new coldplay so they only got 500 of the Patsy done instead of 3500 and they kept 400 for their stores.
