  1. New to vinyl collecting but I've noticed some labels send some of the limited variants to indie stores when the album is released. Anyone know if Castle Face does this? Listening to Floating Coffin on pitchfork. It's absurdly good and I'd love to get my hands on a red splatter copy. Also tempted on the White Fence album but haven't heard his stuff.
  2. NPR has this up on first listen now: http://www.npr.org/2013/03/31/175497508/first-listen-kurt-vile-wakin-on-a-pretty-daze
  3. It was also in one of their newsletters last week: FRANK OCEAN's DEBUT on VINYL for the first time - PREORDER NOW for RSD: Clear Vinyl in full-color picture sleeve, LIMITED to 750 - $24.99 In-store for Record Store Day (Pre-order now by stopping in/calling the shop/emailing [email protected]) Remember the deal? After getting signed to Island Def Jam in late 2009, Frank Ocean felt that he was being so ignored by the system that he decided to give away his debut album, Nostalgia, Ultra, for free on his Tumblr. Nostalgia, Ultra finds Ocean singing over a mix of original pop-leaning R&B beats courtesy of big-ticket producers like Tricky Stewart (Rihanna's "Umbrella", Beyonce's "Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)") and Midi Mafia (50 Cent's "21 Questions", Justin Bieber's "Down to Earth") as well as some eclectic remakes of songs including Coldplay's "Strawberry Swing", MGMT's "Electric Feel", and, most surprisingly, the Eagles' "Hotel California".
  4. You don't get out much, do you? I know it's all relative (I recently moved from Brooklyn to Nashville) but classifying the area as "really rough" is kind of ridiculous. There's some kind of a center across the street and medium-sized groups of people outside as a result, but nothing to warrant instilling fear in someone who's never been.
  5. Precisely why I'll be at Grimey's instead. Some great local performances, beer, food trucks, and access to all the RSD releases.
  6. Scored a purple one at Grimey's in Nashville on my lunch break today. They had about 6 left.
  7. Personally, I'm stoked for the "rat tapes". Only in context though, not form.
  8. http://shopusa.4ad.com/monomania Just saw this today. Not sure what the description below means: LP includes MP3 download coupon Mystery disc of NOCTURNAL GARAGE. rat tapes / NEW FORMAT is avant garde(?) but only in context not form (original intent of avant garde (1912-59) / before logic: FOG MACHINE / LEATHER / NEON
  9. Nah, just login and click on "your account", "your orders", "details". "request list xxxx", "remove"
  10. Agaetis Byrjun is 37 bucks on Strictly Discs. Pretty substantial price difference. Been a casual browser on VC for a while btw. This Sigur Ros thread got me amped so I joined.
