Stopped into a local store and grabbed a few things:
Acrid: Sea of Shit (Red)
Forms In Instrumental Music (No Idea what this was but was a folkways records release so knew it would be at least worth checking out)
Wayne Shorter: Adam's Apple
Had a few more things I wanted but decided to limit myself with amount I have been getting recently.

Count me in as well.

Seeing Orange Goblin tonight, I'm really damn excited about it too.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eo2bOOEtMxY
Also Monster Magnet is coming out with a new record and is on tour now.
This is all besides the awesome bands that have already been talked about heh.
How was the orange goblin show?

If you like the more rockin/groove stoner shit here's some other bands I used to listen too. Sheavy(dude sounds pretty close to Ozzy), Los Natas(Spanish but pretty rockin), Acrimony, Spiritual Beggars, Nebula & one of my favorites of all time MONSTER MAGNETS SPINE OF GOD.
Thanks for making me think of these lol
(edit)
I just listened to Kadavar for the 1st time. You definitely might like some of the bands in this post.
Yeah nebula and monster magnet are great. Not familiar with those others ill have to check them out. If your liking that kadavar check out graveyard, witchcraft and horrisant if you arent familiar.

I don't think Torche is a stoner or doom band. Maybe they have a riff or two here and there that are but Floor prior to their self-titled album was pretty sludgy.
If you want pretty heavy doom/sludge, current bands are Monarch(who has an insane female vocalist), The Body, & Weedeater are all pretty good.
My personal favorite records from past bands that are in this category would be Boris - Amplifier Worship, Iron Monkey's Our Problem, & EyeHateGod's Take As Needed For Pain. Sleep's Jerusalem is an amazing album, but I don't think it's one you should just jump right into unless you can get super stoned first and have decent headphones.
But "stoner" and "doom" have such a wide meaning. Doom, in the traditional sense, is almost glam sounding bands like Trouble & Solstice, while stoner music is more like Kyuss & Fu Manchu.
There's basically a shit ton of bands you can listen to that fall into these categories.
agreed. It is a pretty catch all category that can bring alot of possibilities. figure most people might find some stuff, including myself, they dig by not narrowing the options to discuss.

that pallbearer record has been getting some listens lately on my end. they are going to be in Pittsburgh this weekend with Saint Vitus. hopefully can make the show.
-
if you are digging torche grab some Floor, steve brooks from torches first band. NAAM are great. saw them about a month ago when they were in town. havent had a chance to listen to the newest record yet.

I tried searching for a thread for this and could not find one.
What have you all been listening to? What are some cant miss bands that we should all know about? What new releases or lesser known stuff should we know about?
Been listening to the newest Windhand record which I have been digging.
Neon Warships S/T record has been pretty killer.
Kadavar's new record has awesome jams on it, though not strictly stoner or doom per se.
Locally in Pittsburgh there has been a band that has been buzzing a lot and putting out some great stuff. You can check out their demo on band camp for free.

Finally took some time to rummage thru Amoeba's 50¢ 7-inch boxes, came up with some finds...
Chopper One - Free Lunch/Mr. Waldon (wanted this forever! couldn't believe my luck)
Cornershop - Born Disco; Died Heavy Metal
Joe Colley & Mike Shiflet - Intentional Accidents for Microphone
Low Times/Eets Feats - split EP (bought this just for the cover and it's actually good!)
The 5.6.7.8's - Bomb The Twist
The Loose Rails - You've Got Mine/Teenage Kicks
The Standells - Dirty Water (OG pressing)
The Standells - Dirty Water (Rhino reissue)
The Walker Brothers - The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore
Young Fresh Fellows - Sick & Tired of Me
And a couple LPs which were definitely not 50¢...
Dark - Dark Round the Edges
Hand - Everybody's Own
The Damn Personals - Standing Still In The USA
They Might Be Giants - Lincoln (finally!)
VA - Office Space soundtrack (bootleg)
That dark record is killer. Went to my local shop and they were sold out but getting more soon.

Cannot wait for that Pittsburgh date. Goblin in Pittsburgh was something I never expected to happen.
The re-presses are cool too for those who didn't already have them.
Second this completely. Saw the news today and plan on buying a ticket when they go on sale later this week. Venue is great too. Saw jeff mangum there earlier this year.

finished watching parker with jason statham. good if you like a mindless action movie.
on my last episode of Derek with Ricky Gervais. I usually love what he does but this show just isint making me laugh and its supposed to be funny. They throw a bit of depressing material in as well which is odd...
