You guys do know that TOOL has used pro tools for mixing and mastering from tape. I doubt we are getting a full AAA chain
Yeah this is what I was thinking too. I always read they recorded to tape but there were digital elements from there. For anyone concerned about AAA vinyl go listen to the Volto LP.

Guessing this is the official tool thread? Anyways- wanted to share this rad side project i just found out about - https://www.discogs.com/sell/release/4981144?ev=rb
Danny drums and its this jazzy sorta proggy album. Really good stuff. Check it out
To anyone who used to frequent the official Tool board, Volto was the only thing they talked about from 2006-???

Every RSD I hope we'll hear the Bernie cut of AEnima for Classic will be released by Tool.
No friggin' way I can afford $400+ for a test pressing, but have thought about it a few times! My Classic cuts of Zeppelin and Peter Gabriel are so good.
It's not different mastering. Those were pressed from the same metal parts as the standard release (which is way friggin' expensive too!). I know because I've owned multiple copies of both. Same exact matrix info all the way down to the handwriting and font size. While we're wishing upon a star, I'd like to see their entire catalogue get a 45rpm audiophile treatment from a reissue group like Analogue Productions. Maybe mastered by Kevin Grey. That would be the holy grail of wax!

Gotta say I just bought a new copy of the Lateralus picture disc and it is one of the noisiest, pop and click infested new albums I've ever purchased. Tool should be ashamed for allowing this noisy piece of shit to be released with their name attached to it.
I've been saying this ad nauseam: picture discs are novelty items!!! Not meant for audio enjoyment! Fucks sake

Vinyl press to come in 2034
Ha! I shouldn't laugh. This is one of those joke predictions that may actually come true.

Anyone know where I can find a first press of undertow?

Yes, but it's faint. I've never seen the OG labels in person, but I'm told they're pretty faint as well. Also, like the OG, it doesn't say which side is which, but it's written in the deadwax, if you can get it in the right light.
So, yeah, this is about as close to an original copy you can get without spending $300.
If by "close" you mean having a CD ripped onto vinyl. Which is, to my best assessment, pointless. I mean no disrespect, but I hope you all are aware that is how these are being produced. And who knows what production methods are being employed at the pressing plant.
You know, I've been following this thread for awhile and I am astonished anyone is willing to pay more than $5 for these "bootleg" copies. These are, at best, novelty items.

There's two pressings of the OG. One had the Tool sticker on the shrink, the other didn't. Sometimes people would take the sticker off the shrink wrap and place it on the cover. There's a few other differences between the two pressings. They have different sized fonts/logos on the spine. The center labels are very vivid and noticeable on one of the pressings. The other has the same design for the center labels but you can barely see it as it has almost no color (this is the version I have). I know what I just mentioned may sound confusing but there are definitely two versions of the OG pressing.
Do you know which pressing has the dark and which has the light? Also, anyone have info on the dead wax etchings for the "A" and "B" pressings?
Thanks!

In case you don’t want to wait for a 12/31/2036 release date, I’d recommend scoring a nice OG promo press of Undertow. I don’t know the price today, but I got one off eBay a few years back for just under a $100. It sounds like you’re in the control room listening to MJK lay down the vocals live.
