  1. Looks pretty cool! I generally agree about the art though, having his brother do it was a thing. I've been listening to the digital files a lot. I'm really liking it so far. I can't wait to hear that piece of spinning sea foam.
  2. Yeah, you're right in that they/he are constantly evolving. I guess I just preferred the earlier era of Hissing Fauna on back, so I'm pretty excited about this release.
  3. They still have some of the limited 1500 sea foam green vinyl. I just ordered one after listening to the released single. It seems like a return to form.
  4. What a coincidence. I just was listening to IIOI after reading an article about the recent emo renaissance. Really awesome stuff. And the vinyl looks awesome. Heading over to the most likely place to have it later today...
  5. I saw that one, but the cover is only VG, so I might as well spend $10-15 more to get a NM if possible.
  6. Yeah, they came and went while I took my dog for a walk. The price has been insane for about a year on this record. I'm just going to have to suck it up I guess. I'm not sure I've ever even seen it on vinyl in the last decade. I had a friend who had a copy back when it was released, but you just never see them.
  7. I wish they'd reissue STWHA. I'm having a hard time shelling out $60 for it. I finally bought the Red Letter Day 10" off of discogs, and I'm so glad. The sound has a much more open, less compressed sound than my cd (or least the rip of my cd, which long since disappeared). These two records are two of my favorite of that era. 4 Minute Mile was also awesome, but I could swear it was a superchunk record. :-)
  8. Thanks. I'm going to seek one the RSD copies of 94 Diskont then...
  9. So I picked up a used copy of this (it's a favorite). It's one of the original pressings. It's pretty clean looking, but very crackle and poppy when played. I've cleaned it but it hasn't gotten any better. It's pretty distracting, given the music. Anybody have similar experiences? How was the RSD reissue? I do have the Systemich from RSD 2013 and it doesn't have any issues.
  10. The Bartholomaus Traubeck stuff is amazing, especially given its origin: A tree's year rings are analysed for their strength, thickness and rate of growth. This data serves as basis for a generative process that outputs piano music. It is mapped to a scale which is again defined by the overall appearance of the wood (ranging from dark to light and from strong texture to light texture). The foundation for the music is certainly found in the defined ruleset of programming and hardware setup, but the data acquired from every tree interprets this ruleset very differently.
  11. Yeah, both of these are great. I felt lucky to stumble on the vinyl of both of these a few months back. I'm excited about his upcoming record as well. I'm listening to Slow Walkers now on spotify. So far I'm really liking it.
  12. I love a lot of this stuff, so here goes a list. I probably skew a little towards the classical side though. Maybe tomorrow I'll dig up some youtubes: Hildur Gudnadottir Haushka Tim Hecker (Ravedeath, 1972 is a good starting place) Julia Kent Dictaphone Johann Johannsson Max Richter (especially 24 Postcards) David Lang ("Child" is my favorite) Pantha du Prince/Bell Orchestra Eat Lights Become Lights Ignatz Jasper tx My most recent find: Warm Digits (kind of early kraftwerk with gnarly guitars) And definitely check out these two records from last year, both are amazing. Snow Palms - Intervals Land Observations - Roman Roads Here's my favorite site for this kind of stuff http://reviews.headphonecommute.com
  13. Picked up the deluxe yesterday at Amoeba. I think it's a good, solid Superchunk record. I do though love the song Abstract Flows on the included 7-inch. It's minutes of just beautiful swirly harmonic feedback and noise.
