  1. There are both clear green and swirled blue copies available on eBay. And I was told there are six colors in total, one of which is black

Correction: Six colors PLUS a black version.

For the person wanting pics of blue and green, I do not have either of those in hand yet but it is my understanding that they are by far the rarest pressings.

  2. I was just about to write the same thing. It's a little on the elitist side, but f**k, if you wanted a certain band's record, you should've been there instead of listening to Nickelback and Papa Roach.

Or in my case you couldn't legally get into Lucero shows. The idea that if you weren't there you were listening to bad music is f**king retarded. Lucero shows in my area were always 21+. Why should I never get to hear TMFW on wax just because I was too young? I mean nuts if I could afford a 140 for a single record I would, because that's one of my favorites but I freaking cant. Someday I'll have a big paying job, but until then it would be nice for "punks" to stop pregnant doging about the market value of their pieces and be happy that other people are enjoying an amazing record on vinyl. Screw collecting what about loving the music?

I'm with you, it's all about having the music on vinyl. The way vinyl appreciates is simply a bonus. Although it does allow me to check out bands that I've never heard and recoup at least my cost if I don't like it. (Which reminds me, I need to dump my red/blue Mastodon Blood Mountain LP. Ugh.) But like anything, if you look at something as an investment, there's always risks involved.

  3. Hmm... you're right, I don't see it listed, although I could have sworn it was released... bad example (it is scheduled for release, though). However, I also sold a copy of No Division on white for $100 and the repress was already available for that.

Maybe you're thinking of Finding the Rhythms, that recently came out again.

But in any case, they were supposed to be repressing the LP for Forever and Counting and that info has disappeared.

  4. There's no reason you can't use a DJ turntable. You'll pay more for the features that you don't need, but just follow your cartridge's specifications for setting the weight, anti-skate, etc. and you'll be fine. I'm not familiar with this model in particular but I don't doubt that it's better than your Best Buy model. I wouldn't use a DJ needle/cartridge, though.

  5. I was shopping for vinyl (in Vancouver) last weekend and I came across one that really struck me as unusual: Everclear's "Sparkle and Fade" on transparent green vinyl. It seems odd to me, because for one it was pretty cheap ($12 - about half of what most new vinyl costs around here), it's an original from 1994 or 1995 or whatever. It's clear green, which is rare for major labels according to my experiences. So, I picked it up. I loved that album back in the day, and it has held up pretty well to time. And it sounds pretty sweet on vinyl too.

Anybody else find something that you had no idea existed?

That album also came with a 7" on red vinyl w/ a picture sleeve. Live tracks from a radio session, all from World of Noise. Buy it, the two should never be separated!!

World of Noise was pressed on clear vinyl, which is even more surprising than Sparkle and Fade. And it's on eBay at normal prices all the time. Talk about a must have album...
