What an insane haul.  Congrats on snagging it all!

  2. Had a guy come through the store I work at the other day with his Jazz collection he wanted to sell.  He had a good handful of original Blue Note's, but they were all unfortunately trashed.  My heart sank as I was flipping through them and saw the conditions.  Ended up buying a small portion of the collection that was still in decent condition though.  I was able to make it out with a handful of stereo reissues that were in VG/VG+ condition.

  3. The quote is from their email newsletter, there was no further explanation for this. Let us know if MM responses to you.

Where did the Music Matters -topic disappear on Steve Hoffman forum? Haven't been able to find it.. Or maybe it is readable only for members now?

News just got dropped there too.  Definite bummer.

  4. I'm on that forum, too, and there are far too many posters who focus solely on the audiophile aspect of record collecting and not enough on the actual music. I'm a Music Matters subscriber, and I've yet to have any problems with their releases.

Agreed.  I take most things I read over there with a grain of salt when it comes to issues like this.  Like you, I haven't had a single issue with the 12 titles I've picked up so far.

  5. Recently picked up a couple more Analogue Productions Prestige reissues.  Between these and the Music Matters Blue Note reissues, they are a little costly but are entirely worth it.  I'll slowly be picking up more from their Prestige Mono series.  They are starting a Prestige Stereo series as well with 25 more titles.

  6. Lucked out this weekend and had an exceptional Jazz haul. I purchased the bulk of a buy from Half Price Books with several beautiful condition Blue Notes.

Cannonball Adderley - Somethin' Else (BL 1595)

Dave Brubeck Quartet - Jazz Impressions of Eurasia (Stereo) It took me forever to find this in my area for some reason.

    Herbie Hancock - Headhunters

Miles Davis/Thelonius Monk - Miles and Monk at Newport (RSD)

Ramsey Lewis Trio - The In Crowd

Sonny Rollins - The Bridge (I have the MOV version, but I had to pick up the original pressing.)

Miles Davis - Circle in the Round

Joe Henderson - Page One (Seeing this in the store gave me heart palpatations. I grabbed it, and stared at it like it might disappear. This is probably my most valuable piece now.)

Thelonius Monk & John Coltrane - Monk & Trane

That's the stuff I always hope to find in Half Priced Books but never actually find.

  7. New apartment, finally mostly happy with my setup.

Just need to get around to hanging the prints. Also now that I look at the photo, the Birdman bill might have to move as the asymmetry is making me a little uneasy.

Running a Music Hall MMF 2.2 through a Sherwood RX-109 out a dual setup of Paradigm Atoms (v2) and Polk RT25is. Don't think I've ever actually seen anyone else do dual bookshelf speakers, but I think the pair really compliments each other as the Paradigms give me crystal highs and bring vocals to life so much more, and the Polks really fill everything out. I've been enjoying it thus far.

    Do I spot some SPRECHER?

  8. Picked this up today - local was playing the cd in store and they had the vinyl box set - reallllll good shit! 16 year old jazz prodigy from the 60's, modal/post-bop/vocal jazz. Each album has unique qualities. Set blends in some nice spiritual jazz vibes too.

Never heard of him.  Sounds awesome though.  Will definitely check it out!
