The standard non-RSD pressing of this that's coming out soon is already on sell hold through our store distributor, which means the entire pressing (or the quantity of the pressing going into stores) is pretty much accounted for.

I spend my whole day getting asked by tourists if we have a bathroom. We don't. Even if I come off as rude by the 23rd person, it's still not someone who is going to be shopping with us.
Knowing that most stores started getting shipment weeks ago, it didn't seem likely that they would still be waiting on them.
But the annoyance was far more with the next guy who couldn't just say yes or no- told me to look it up myself.
"Sir, do you have this shirt in a medium?"
"I don't know. Go check my website."
The annoyance is definitely understandable then. I would never say that or be that blunt toward a customer.

Clams Casino - Instrumentals
Been on the hunt for this for a while.

one was "i don't know. we won't know until we receive it. and we haven't received it yet. soo.."
i'm calling about 2 records, and another guy tells me "the list is on our website. you can look at that. an official one should be up in the next couple days or right before we open."
stellar customer service, you fucks. do you want me giving money to your shop or nah?
As an employee of a record store, I have to say that this guy isn't completely in the wrong. We truly don't know how many copies of any given title we have until we receive our shipments with the invoice (unless we get e-mailed an invoice at the time of shipping). We put in an order for what we want, titles get allocated, and we receive whatever they send us.
This is the most hectic week of the year for record stores, and it's hard not to get a little frustrated over things at times. The shop I work at got like half of our RSD titles today, only days before RSD. Not saying he should've been rude if he was, but it can get frustrating at times when responding to the same question so many times every day leading up to RSD, especially when you don't always know the definite answer. So to call them "fucks" for not responding to a question that they may very well not know the answer to is a little harsh.

This is a cool site to peruse if you want to get acquainted with the expensive world of jazz collecting. http://jazzcollector.com/
This story was an interesting read. Would love to come across and dig through a collection like this : http://jazzcollector.com/features/the-complete-jazz-collector-bruce-m-west-collection/

How did you find this out? I'm not seeing them until next Friday!
This twitter posted a picture of it on their merch spread for tonight : https://twitter.com/brandnewrockfan

Apparently they are selling these at their current shows. $2 a pop.

So are the Music Matters issues definitely worth it? Considering getting Somethin Else but they're $15 more than the standard issue.
Absolutely. I am eight reissues deep and every one sounds amazing.

Super happy to find this (at a reasonable price)
I wish I could give this more up-votes. Great find!
-
Even though they are short clips, I'm loving the way those sounds clips on their IG are sounding. Really looking forward to this album.

My collection of Music Matters releases so far. I cannot recommend these enough. I'd like to eventually pick up all the 33's that the've done, but I've just been cherry-picking my favorite titles for now.

Glad this thread got bumped. I just recently picked up a couple Heavenly Sweetness reissues. I think I've read that they are digitally sourced, but sourced from the analog tapes nonetheless. Sound pretty good to me. I got Grachan Moncur III "Some Other Stuff" and Hank Mobley "No Room For Squares". Both records are awesome and have great line-ups.

Any store that lets people buy more than one copy of anything on RSD is whack. It boggles my mind every year when someone comes up to the counter and casually tries to buy like five copies of something. Even worse when it's someone who I know will not come back to our store until the next RSD.
-
Really, really don't understand the hype behind this album.
Then this is the thread for YOU

1,500 isn't a lot for RSD, either. There's gonna be a ton of people camping out who will find out their store didn't get any copies.
Yeah, a lot of RSD releases get very heavily allocated to stores. Our store could literally order 40 copies and potentially get sent like two. We have no idea how many we'll get until they actually ship to us and we get the invoice.
You never know though. That Death Grips "Government Plates" BFRSD release was limited to 900 and I think we ended up getting like five.

God dammit richard don't make me camp out
One guy came in who has literally NEVER been to our store and asked if he could reserve TWO. I couldn't believe it.

Reasons this is great = I work in a record store so, if this is true, I'll grab a copy while I'm working.
Reasons this sucks = I work in a record store so, if this is true, I'll deal with a untold number of unhappy people trying to get this while I'm working.
I've already had multiple calls from people asking if they can reserve a copy at the store I work at.

Scored all these after getting a heads up vall from a local vinyl shop. All first presses. The Creeping Death is a UK ewd vinyl. The Iron Maiden is a Holland press. Everytging in EX or better condition.
Scored these last week at Newbury Comics. Got lucky. The Studio 54 was $2.99 lol
This one ws at Newbury Comics also, was just in use during the pic. Lenticular cover, red vinyl
Very nice. Creeping Death is my all-time favorite Metallica song.

Been wanting this record for a while. If the boot sounds good, I'll probably try to track a copy down.

My package departed Okemos, MI yesterday and arrived in Warrendale, PA today. I live in Wisconsin. Literally right next to Michigan. The USPS is a weird place, man.

Just got the 2013 mono reissue of this. I have mono and stereo copies, but I definitely prefer the mono copy. An essential album.

I never did post a photo of my record room after selling my old shelves (that everyone here loved but sadly they outlived their usefulness due to space constraints and the fact that my fiance demanded that i keep the vault contained to one room). Here's the new room as of a week or so ago. I redid the room last spring, my lady liked the expedits in white so we went out and grabbed enough to fill the room.
At some point that 2x4 is going to be replaced by a 4x4 when I run out of room in the existing shelves. I don't give a shit about that window being blocked as I have never opened it. The current total count of records is a little shy of 10,000. I think I will have a party to celebrate when I hit the 10k mark.
Most of the old shelves are still in service over at Logan Hardware in Chicago. I kept a couple of them up in my office for the mailorder stuff.

I mean, I'm not denying that this will be pretty easy to come across initially when it comes out. I just wouldn't overestimate how widely available it will actually be. I wouldn't be surprised if once this first repress is gone, it takes a little while to see it on shelves again. Just look at what happens every time Triple Crown represses Devil & God. It's easy to get for a month or two, then goes out of print for a while.
