  1. Were the Black Friday Pre Sale prices on Thursday the same as the Black Friday prices today? I briefly scanned but it seemed to be the same prices, about 20-30% off the original MSRP for most releases.

Yes, the PRE-SALE prices were the same as the BLACK FRIDAY prices, although we did sell out of about 500 titles in the two days of the PRE-SALE.  Newer releases and active LP stock is going to be 20-30% off MSRP with the additional discount -- clearance stock is an additional 10-50% off current sale prices.  If memory serves, there's over a thousand titles that we marked down an additional 50% off our current selling prices.

  2. This is admitted a gratuitous cross-posting from over in the Black Friday Sales forum.

Where it might be of interest here is that most of "what's left" of the titles we ran as part of Vinyl Clearance Sales over the last year are in here at an additional 10% off our marked-down sale prices.  Quite a few steals in there if you spend some time "browsing the bins" if you will.

  4. Is there any way to filter out of stock records from search queries? It's alright now because the ones that are in stock will say "Super Savings" but in general it's frustrating to find so many things I want and have most of them be out of stock.

At this time, there's no option to do so.  If you're specifically browsing the Warehouse Clearance Sale (http://www.oldies.com/collection-view/Vinyl-Warehouse-Clearance-Sale.html), any sold-out items should automatically drop out nightly.

  5. Damn you Oldies. Damn you.

    Why? - Golden Tickets

    Flipper - Love

Dntel - Life Is Full Of Possibilities

    Ex Models - Chrome Panthers

    Abe Vigoda - Reviver

Animal Collective - Summertime Clothes 12" Single

    Gauntlet Hair -  Gauntlet Hair

    51 bucks.

I really, really wasn't gonna get anything, I was just browsing, I swear. Then I saw Gauntlet Hair for like 7.50, and the Summertime Clothes single, and I started weeping

Yeah, yeah.  Damn us straight to Hell.  We know how it goes.  Thanks for the order, though! ;-)

  6. Are there new clearance titles?

Parkinglot: For the Labor Day Weekend promo, we took the existing "clearance sale" selections and reduced prices on the remaining stock by 10% -- which in many cases takes the pricing down to 10-20% below our *original cost*.  We just *really* need to make room for new arrivals.  Some previously sold-out titles were reinstated, mostly because we found some additional stock (misshelved, etc.) or from previous orders that we couldn't ship (cancellations, cc declines, etc.)

  7. So is this considered Sale Wave #2?

No, this is technically not "Sale Wave #2".  This is (for all purposes) a site-wide "additional 10-20%" off sale as part of our Black Friday and Cyber Monday promotions.  It's pretty much the only time of year we offer an additional discount across-the-board on almost all titles.  Wave #2 will happen at some point in December.

  8. For those interested... our Black Friday promotion is now online.  Most vinyl is priced an additional 10-20% off our regular sale prices, plus get free shipping on most orders of $35 or more.  (Note: Many titles from our previous Vinyl LP Clearance Sale are not reduced from the clearance sale prices).  All sale LPs can be browsed here:  http://www.oldies.com/collection-view/Vinyl-LP.html

In addition, here are some of the Black Friday price reductions:

  9. Now I'm curious to know what effects this sale had for oldies.com

Was it good/bad overall? Did we, like, create some jobs or something?

Kept us busy and out of trouble for the last week, that's for certain.  And it added a sizable number of new gray hairs to the scalps of some of the vinyl pickers in our warehouse, and at least one customer service rep named Mark.  Wish we could've planned it better, but none of us had any idea it was going to go gangbusters in quite the way it did.  Oddly, you would've figured that moving 10,000+ LPs in just a couple of days would've made the shelves bare, but it doesn't even look like we put a dent in our stock!  So to answer your question, it's all good... ;-)

  10. Regarding the issuance of PayPal refunds for partial shipments... we have been actively processing and posting these refunds through PayPal.  As the order volume becomes more manageable on a daily basis, the window between shipment and refunding will reduce significantly (usually it happens the following business day).  Many outstanding PayPal refunds from last week's sale have been processed and posted within the last 24-48 hours.

As you're probably aware, we're just dealing with A LOT of orders.  If you have any Customer Service-related issues, just shoot us an e-mail at [email protected].  Response time during standard business hours is usually pretty quick.  We'll answer the best we can.

For those that have inquired about Wave #2, we'll probably come back with more in early December, as we're still "digging out" from this sale, and we have Black Friday/Cyber Monday/etc. right around the corner.

Thanks again to all for the orders -- we appreciate your business.  To those disappointed, we are sorry that we were unable to meet your expectations, and will most certainly strive to do better the next time around.
