  1. Holy shit sorry for asking a question. I apologize for being new to the ways of vinyl and how it's released. I sincerely apologize for wasting the precious brain power that it took to read and process my post... not to mention the effort that it took to formulate your replies. I guess it's easier, or more maybe pleasurable, to be a dick than to answer with a simple yes or no. I now realize that this is serious business. Sorry. Edit: I made a mistake by jumping into the deep end of this topic. I didn't start at the beginning like I should have. I've learned a lesson here. As for others go, I know we're anonymous here but a little tact would go along way... even when dealing with strangers online.
  2. I knew nothing about it when I purchased it. I just liked the fact that it worked and I prefer the vintage wood look. Now that I've been doing more research on it I am quite impressed by this thing. I didn't even know about idler drives lol! Certainly is quite the upgrade from my beginner all-in-one cd/record/cassette unit. The guy that I bought it from already had a 1229 and he picked this one up at an estate sale along with an old amp. He only wanted the amp but the person wouldn't separate them for him so he had to take them both. Now I have it and I love it!
  3. This is my very first set up that I just pieced together. Dual 1219 Turntable Shure M91 MG-D Cartrdige MCS 2256 Integrated Amp MCS 2256 Quartz Tuner Couple of crappy little KLH Model 45 bookshelf speakers Picture of Grandma It's a classical kind of morning so I can get my homework done What's cool about the turntable, and something I've personally never seen before but I'm sure many of you have, is the dustcover. You can flip up just the front portion to access the inside. Pretty neat, I think. Only thing I want to do is upgrade my speakers from those little bookshelf. I got my eye on a couple sony towers speakers but I have to wait until the funds make possible.
  4. I don't know the significance of the specs of this thing but I will say that it is absolutely gorgeous.
  5. Just my opinion but I'd just cancel it and save yourself all the grief.
  6. Bump. You know could use some cash. You got bills to pay.
  7. Thanks. This helps my confidence quite a bit. This audio stuff is scary haha
  8. Haha.. it's good to know that I could do worse lol. Looks like iRPM is an Iphone app so I'll have to find something for Android. I shall look into cartridges as well. I'll have to poke around here and google to find out where to start with that. Thanks
  9. It always sucks being the new guy. Hopefully someone can help me out. I'm just looking for something that will just sound better than the el cheapo, beginner all-in-one unit that I have now. No need for anything fancy or top of the line. I found this turntable *link removed* and I just want to know if it's a good deal or not. What price would you pay? Should I decide to buy it what questions should I ask and what should I look for? Thanks for any help and/or words of wisdom Went cheap and got what I paid for and then some. Made a rookie mistake of trusting a craigslist seller too much and ended up buying broken shit. I'm a fucking dumbass. Siiiiiigh
  10. Now this was a very helpful post. Especially that second paragraph.Thank you. I'm certainly no audiophile but I'm quickly realizing that with this shitty unit I have now I'm pretty much wasting the point of the experience. I just want it to sound better than what I have. Don't need anything special. It just blows my mind how expensive this stuff can get. Gotta keep doing my research, I guess.
  11. I'm in the same boat as the OP as I'm just now learning about all of this vinyl stuff. The only thing I have is one of these cheap all-in-one units because it was given to me. I know I need to upgrade, especially now that I've realized that I like this stuff, but when I see numbers thrown around like $1000 it scares me
  12. Lol touche. I arrived way too late into this vinyl scene, I guess.
  13. That's how it worked with me. Heard nothing at all. Shipping status was processing for over a week. Finally emailed them then lo and behold my order shipped the next day.
  14. As someone who is new to the vinyl scene.... what in the actual fuck??? Only 200 makes them that expensive? Yikes.
  15. Ordered 11/12 and got mine in today. Received 2 of the 5 that I ordered. Not over the moon or anything.. they weren't the best deals... more like my afterthought additions.. but better than nothing, I guess.
