  1. Never seen anything like that.  The record looked fine, certainly not warped enough to cause any platter rotation problem.

Does it always play one side of that record and always not play the other side?

Agreed that it pretty much has to be the turntable and not the record.

yeah, always. and it's the one side i want to play as well, 'cause the side that plays only has 3 songs on it. i was really pissed at first 'cause it was £40 but i suppose i don't mind waiting for the repress. but yeah, it doesn't have any marks or anything and after googling what a warped record looks like i can confirm it is not warped.

OP is kinda owed an apology here people...

On topic, I have no clue what would cause that to happen.

i'm not too bothered by the sarcastic responses 'cause i did laugh at most of them and it did seem ridiculous, disliking my comments is a bit immature though (not that you did but someone did)

  2. It's an odd problem, but I don't think its warped. The grooves on the records themselves are probably messed up in a way where it causes heavy drag on the needle. Because of this, the needle is stopped because of the grooves, which explains why it doesn't spin. In other words, the grooves on the records are really messed up.

Try lifting the needle and placing it somewhere else on the A-side of the record to see if the problem is still there.

Also, a warped record is when the record is slightly bended in a way that it messes up the pitch of the record.

Yeah, it might be that. Really appreciate your potentially helpful reply. Every time I put the needle on the record it just kind of, sat there, making a muffled distorted sound. I'll try it when I've slept. If it still doesn't play I'll just try switching the labels so the turntable's scanner is fooled. The latter is sarcasm.

  3. Nope. It's the kids turntable, I doubt many pop punk albums like this make it to tables that cost more than $100. My favorite part of his post is that they think it may be warped... every warped record I own that is audibly messed up is clearly warped from a visual stand point, there's no guess work involved.

    Edited for frostedflakes.

That's why I asked, because there are no visible marks.

  4. Just bought Neck Deep's RIJ/AHOBD on vinyl, it's the orange pressing, second hand, and I was suuuper stoked to have it. So I get round to playing it today, and the Rain In July side just won't spin, AHOBD plays fine yay great but why won't the other side spin? I've heard it may be warped or something. Is this the case? I'm pretty pissed cause the guy I bought it from was like "oh yeah it's brand new! Never played!"

The same thing happens with my Salem - I'm still in the night EP. Side A spins for a second, sounds distorted and just doesn't play. I'm guessing that's completely fucked/warped. Side B, again, is fine.

Any suggestions on what I can do to rescue the neck deep record would be appreciated.

  5. Hello

I have no idea where to post this, so for that, I apologise.

I just got given a sharp hifi midi system SG-FS30E, it was my girlfriend's mum's old record player from the 80s and she doesn't use it, now it's mine. Could anybody tell me anything about it? Is it any good? What cartridge does it come with? Will it scratch my records? I've googled and nothing comes up, just thought I'd ask here, surely someone must have seen one!

    Cheers.

  6. Neck Deep have just announced that they're working on the Rain In July repress. They said this on their Twitter;

"Wheels are in motion for the Rain In July / HOBD LP/CD reissue via @hopelessrecords. Will be out in time for @VansWarpedTour... Stay tuned!"

I know a few people here wanted the original. Apologies if there's already a thread about this, I looked and couldn't find anything.
