  1. Thanks for the heads up.  Just saw this band mentioned on some top 10 stoner metal band list (#3 behind St. Vitus and Black Sabbath).  Ordered with some cheap cd's for the $25 free shipping.

Yeah dude, Electric Wizard is a top ten band for me for sure. If you're into that stuff and somehow haven't heard of Sleep, you should get into them too.

Noticed some stuff going back off out of stock recently.

  2. Not sure if anyone has listed stores in Portland, OR, and forgive me if they have...I'm not going through 16 pages to find out, but...

    Mississippi Records

    5202 N Albina Ave, Portland, OR 97217

This place is great, they sell turntables, amps, receivers, do repairs, and all kinds of stuff in addition to vinyl and cassettes.  They've got a great selection here, and by far the best discount used selection I've seen in town. Great selection of "punk/modern" and a pretty good metal section.  Their big thing is weird foreign and blues stuff though, as they run their own label and reissue some of that stuff/put together comps. Super friendly staff. I may be a little biased since they're my neighborhood shop, so I frequent them the most.

Almost forgot. GREAT prices on their used records, which are usually sprinkled in with the new releases.

    Little Axe Records

    5012 NE 28th Ave, Portland, OR 97211

I actually haven't been in here, but they used to be connected with Mississippi records, maybe they still are, I don't know. I've heard some really good stuff about them from people I trust though.

    Second Ave. Records

These guys are scattered throughout Portland and they're pretty alright. Mostly newer stuff and reissues though. Pretty friendly staff.

    Music Millenium

    3158 E Burnside St, Portland, OR 97214

I've only been here two or three times, but I really like it (it's a little far away from my abode.) They have a great selection and do in-store shows. Pretty decent prices too.

  3. I ordered from gohastings, because with the coupon code it turned out to be only $14 .  Then I called gohastings and asked about the limited edition (specifically why it was cheaper than the other option and to emphasize I wanted the limited version) - the person I spoke with couldn't tell me anything about it, but just said that I should get the limited if it said that.  She also said that if I didn't receive the limited edition, they would remedy the situation.

So, this is really just a wait and see.  I will post an update when I receive the record, but I'm betting this will be figured out by then.

My guess is that I'm not getting the most limited, or deluxe version.  But if I did, then hooray for me cause the price at insound was $10 more (with shipping)!

I can't justify ordering from gohastings any more.  I've ordered from them twice, and both times they sent the vinyl in a bubble mailer and the covers were incredibly jacked up. (I only ordered the second time because it had been about two years and I had forgotten about my first problem with them.)

When I called them about my order they gave me the run around, refusing to refund my money even though I explained to them that I didn't want them to send me another bubble mailer with a pretty well worthless record inside. Finally they agreed to refund my money after about 20 minutes on the phone, and said "This is just a one time thing, we don't usually do this," to which I replied, "No problem, I won't be ordering from you again."

    /rant

    Anyway, sorry about that.

Haven't checked out the album yet but I love Cloud Nothings so I'll probably end up ordering this.

  4. Thanks guys, unfortunately my ear for that type of scream isn't as good as it used to be and I can't quite make out the lyrics, otherwise I would have posted something alluding the the lyrics.

The runout groove only says: "We love ski dogs" A - on side 1    and "You should to"  with no letter on side 2

the band is misantropic, the lp has the same drawing:

    http://www.discogs.com/Misantropic-Insomnia/master/341227

and it could be this split 7"

    http://www.discogs.com/Misantropic-Deathrace-Split-Ep/release/2722454

I was pretty well sold on it being that Misanthropic split, but it only has one song per side, not two. (also after listening to Misanthropic, it doesn't sound like them.)

As to the artwork, it looks like an old depiction of the plague, there are many similar ones out there and they would be public domain at this point so Misanthropic using it doesn't necessarily mean no one else can which is a bummer because it makes my search harder.

i think that is Brian Earl Spilner's-Collison Course single

All in all, I think this is going to end up being some local upstate new york band that only like...3 people would know what it is, but I asked some people back there who I thought would know and they had no idea.

Again, thank you guys for the help.

  5. Most of my records that I feel lucky to have are because I got good deals on them, here they are:

Got these at a tiny show a few years back and the guys were super nice and signed them for me.

Got this guy at a garage sale for $1.00

I just feel lucky to have gotten a copy of this the day after RSD when it was released.

As you can see from the sticker, I picked this dude up for $10 and was super stoked about it!

Didn't realize I WAS lucky to own this until yesterday. Who knew?

This guy was a $2 find at a garage sale. First pressing from the year of my birth, hooray!

Well, that's it. I have a couple other good deals I picked up, but I don't really care too much for the records themselves, so it isn't worth the effort to post them.
