When I quit smoking, I stopped around the holidays. It was good to break out of the routines that I had. I found when I was on a regular work schedule/life schedule there were certain times/events that set off a Pavlov's dogs instinct that it was time to smoke. It helped to break out of the routine. Also, I drank a LOT of water. Any time I had an urge, it felt like fire inside me, so I tried to put it out with copious amounts of H2O.
