  1. Agreed. Although 180g vinyl will cost a bit more, I would be willing to pay the price. And Shelby, maybe some people just prefer having stable, flat records. For me, it's more aesthetically pleasing to see my turntable's tonearm in a stable position when spinning records. I hate it when the tone arm rides up and down on a warped record. I don't know if it effects the sound in any way, but I just hate how it looks.
  2. Yep. Was your record warped a bit? Mine was. I was a bit disappointed, but it's just a mild warp. I might buy another copy though, because I'm anal about it.
  3. I totally forgot about it, but was Pipe Dreams Redux available at the show? Not even sure if it's out yet, but just wondering since I forgot to check when I was so busy trying to pay for the Sway album.
  4. Whirr was great tonight. I agree with what has been said about the live vocals so far, but it didn't bother me that much what I saw them play. I was taken aback by how nice the guys were at their merch table. They're nothing like their online persona.
  5. Anyone going to the show in Los Angeles on Tuesday? Haven't gone to a show in a while. I'm looking forward to it.
  6. Listening to The Angel Pool right now. Pretty cool stuff man
  7. Glass Realms/Eliminator Jr. - Great observations. I've noticed the difference in songs on "mbv," but I never realized how the first half was more related to "Loveless" while the second half sounded more like jungle music or whatever. Now that I notice it, I feel like an idiot for not realizing something so obvious. And you're right, Eliminator. "Isn't Anything" and "Loveless" have nothing in common, which is why I was so taken aback when I first listened to it. There was less of that "shoegaze sound" that I was expecting to hear. I'll definitely give it another listen though. The reason why I ask is because my friend is letting me have his "Isn't Anything" or "mbv" copy . I can only choose one.
  8. For those who have listened to My Bloody Valentine's "Isn't Anything" and "m b v," which album do you enjoy more? I listened to both, and I like "m b v" more, but that seems like an unpopular opinion.
  9. If you're completely new to the genre, then start with Slowdive's "Souvlaki" and My Bloody Valentine's "Loveless."
  10. I enjoy listening to music in which the musician(s) has put a lot of dedication, time, and attention into. Which musicians out there can you name? Name a specific album, if you want. Two that come to mind for me are Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins and Kevin Shields of My Bloody Valentine. About Billiy Corgan working on "Siamese Dream" (from Wikipedia): "Corgan worked overtime, practically living in the studio for the recording of Siamese Dream—he and Vig would sometimes work on a 45-second section of music for two days, working 16-hour days for weeks at a time to achieve the sound Corgan wanted." About Kevin Shields on "m b v" (also from Wikipedia): "In 1999, it was reported that Shields had delivered 60 hours of material to Island Records, and vocalist and guitarist Bilinda Butcher confirmed that there existed "probably enough songs to fill two albums." Shields later admitted that at least one full album of "half-finished" material was abandoned. He said, "[it] just [got] dumped, but it was worth dumping. It was dead. It hadn't got that spirit, that life in it.'" You'd have to be a little nutty to dedicate that much into an album, but it's something that I really appreciate. Even if that album isn't necessarily good, in my opinion, I still enjoy listening to it, knowing the hard-work that has been put into the music.
  11. Anyone know of any good upcoming shows in Southern California? Preferably in the Los Angeles/Orange County area. I'm so out of the show/concerts loop.
  12. Thanks for the sincere replies so far, guys. I was expecting some sarcastic answers for questions, that I would imagine, have been asked thousands of times.
  13. Hope you guys don't mind me going off topic a bit. I've never really listened to The Smashing Pumpkins. Which album should I start out with first? From what I've seen, it should be either Siamese Dreams or Mellon Collie. Does anyone know the cheapest place where I can buy these two albums on vinyl? I did a quick search and Mellon Collie is really expensive.
  14. Yup, not into Twitching Tongues either. Preach it man
  15. Like what you like buddy, nothing wrong with that. Just my opinion.
  16. Glass Realms - Nice Slowdive shirts! I like the second and third one in particular. Cool, I was about to buy that one, but I thought I would ask around first before I made the purchase. What color did you choose?
  17. Yo shoegazers.... Can anyone recommend any Slowdive or Jesus and Mary Chain shirts? I don't want to blindly buy a shirt from somewhere only to find out that it's shitty quality or whatever. Official or bootleg, it doesn't matter to me. Although, I've seen official Slowdive shirts before, and I didn't like it very much.
  18. Lilys is the shit. Wish that album would be reissued on vinyl. I would listen to it a lot more if I owned it myself.
  19. I currently own Iron Lung's "White Glove Test." Which other albums from them do you all think are worth picking up? Also, can anyone explain to me the simultaneous double record playing thing for White Glove Test? Is this how the album is meant to be played? I just listen to it single LP at a time. Hope I haven't been listening to WGT the wrong way this whole time.
  20. Fuck, goddammit, there's already a hardcore and punk thread. I searched for like, 5 minutes, and I didn't see anything. But then I see it AFTER I make this thread. Sorry about that. Close it down!!!!!
  21. Hope no one minds me starting this thread. I haven't been here for long, but it seems that a lot of people on Vinyl Collective are into hardcore/punk. So, post or talk about your favorite bands/albums/songs. I'm interested to see what everyone is into. I've been listening to these two bands a lot for the past few weeks:
