Not sure if this fits under the genres for this topic but still think it's noteworthy. Noticed Discogs is listing a repress for Ludovico Einaudi's "Divenire" slated to be released on May 20th: https://www.discogs.com/Ludovico-Einaudi-Divenire/release/8458358
Can't find any info from the label Ponderosa or on his website but still very exciting considering the original press sells for hundreds of dollars normally (!). Anyone know anything about this? -

More importantly, did you get that shelf custom engraved, or is there a company that has a few designs to choose from? Cause it is gorgeous. I swore I've come across your set up on IG before, maybe Reddit, cause I know I've seen your set up. It's looking great!
Thank you! It was engraved with a CNC machine that a friend of mine built for his workshop, here's a short album with more photos of the process and descriptions: http://imgur.com/a/fpvWB#0
It's definitely possible that you've come across my set-up on both Instagram and Reddit. I'm pretty active on both, especially r/vinyl & headphones.

Looks like it could be the ikea's tablet stand: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/10282075/
Yup, that's the one! Also made of bamboo. I think I have a bamboo fetish?

Here's mine. Finally got around to pulling the trigger on some new headphones. I think this is the end of upgrades for me in that department. Still might switch out the cartridge on my table, though. But that can wait!
Full set-up:
Music Hall mmf2.2 > ADL GT40 DAC/pre-amp/headphone amp > Audioengine A5+ or Audeze LCD2.2 without fazor

I think the first track, Ether, is one of the best tracks they've done in awhile. Some of the tracks are a lot heavier than I expected, especially for a documentary soundtrack - but I guess it fits with the whole atomic bomb thing, haha.
Has anyone actually seen the doc this was made for?

The system for the Toronto show at Massey Hall was a joke. The queue opened up prior to the presale onsale time. I was #557 when I got in at 11:55am, after waiting 1.5 hours all that was left was $250/ticket VIPs. It was time well spent!
Maybe I should've stayed online at 9am....I was #9 in the queue. haha
-
To carry on the discussion of tickets/shows...if anyone managed to get a spare Toronto ticket, get at me!
Was on the preorder at 9am EST because I was way too fucking eager and misread the e-mail.
Went back at 12:04, in class, and was 1509 in the queue

Was huge into these guys back in high school but they kinda dropped off with TV en Francais for me. Maybe I'll give this one a listen, though.
They're really fucking great live (and hilarious) at least!

Here's an actual physical mockup I did of Bloc Party's "Silent Alarm": http://imgur.com/a/juPvU

FUCK. Was away this weekend and missed out on that new Nils/Blumm LP. I tweeted the label a few weeks back asking how I can get my hands on a copy and they never replied
If anyone picks this up and doesn't enjoy it, let me know and I'll take it off your hands!EDIT: Nevermind. Got sad too quick and realized it was still available from ANOST. Woohoo!

Is the Cadbury Cream Egg Mcflurry not a normal thing in other places? They've had it here for a few years now - only around easter time though. It's pretty fucking delicious if they make it right.

Also Talons and LITE
Thanks for the Talons suggestion. Had no idea who they were but they've got some great stuff.
-
I don't know where they rank but here are some favourites:
Arcade Fire - Funeral
Wolf Parade - Apologies to the Queen Mary
Malajube - Trompe-l'œil
Coeur de Pirate - self-titled
Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven & F♯ A♯ ∞
Handsome Furs - Plague Park & Face ControlKarkwa - Les Chemins de verre
Oscar Peterson - everything.
Parlovr - self-titled
Stars - Set Yourself on Fire
Sunset Rubdown - Shut Up I Am Dreaming & Random Spirit Lover
There's a lot of great music from this city.

Any reason why to not make straight cuts and using a bond/solvent to clean it up?
Mostly because the fingerjoints are stronger and they're also known as "Japanese joinery" so I thought that was fitting for a game based on a Japanese architect.
I actually used a liquid cement/solvent for the acrylic. Next time for the acrylic, I would do straight cuts because the solvent just runs straight through the cracks and messes up the finish.

Thought it was about time I posted pictures of my man-cave in here, especially after drooling over everyone else's pictures for so long! A bit of a small space, and a few things are a work in progress...
What line of work are you in? That's a really clean workspace.
-
Definitely looking into it. They are highly customizable because you can etch anything. The acrylic is really expensive though. I'm researching cheaper materials.
You could just do them out of plywood. It'd be so much cheaper. Only problem is, it wouldn't be transparent. Do you have a laser machine for the etching?
Here's one I made for a recent project (had to make a game based on an architect): http://imgur.com/IdQo3mk

I hope not, I don't need an autograph messing up my beautiful album art.
The cover art for that album is hideous, though.

Great news! Parc Avenue was a lovely summer album. Thanks for the heads up on this. Looking forward to it, though I'll probably just pick it up from a local shop when it's released.
So many Canadian bands coming out of the dark and releasing new stuff lately, I love it.

Also, this is up for pre-order:

Nils and Olafur collaborating and making beautiful noises. So excited for this ever since they put out that video of them improvising at Nils' Durton studio. -

Directly from MOV's website:
"From January until March 2016, European based record label Music On Vinyl will reissue three Death Cab For Cutie albums, originally released by Atlantic Records / Warner Music Group. All albums will be pressed on 180 gram audiophile vinyl. The albums intended for release are Plans (2005), Narrow Stairs (2008) and Codes And Keys (2011)."
Plans has a release date of January 25th on the site so I guess it's already available at certain retailers.

He looks weird with a shirt/top on.
First thing I thought of too.
Interesting seeing Matt Helders on drums with Iggy Pop. I guess the Joshe Homme/Arctic Monkeys collab really took off.

Just found this thread and thought I'd share my own work: http://www.matthewcoelho.com/
It's been awhile since I picked up my camera, as I'm studying in design at the moment but this thread has already motivated me to get back out and shoot. Thanks for that! -
New? I just paid $45 each for the Stars of Lid reissues. 3xLP but still hurts the wallet.

I have zero hopes that they will still have any copies left for their show here in September.
So..on that note, if anyone has one they're willing to part with, let's chitchat
