  1. Pretty sure what you're referring to is surface noise, and it sounds like a pressing fault in this instance. I recently purchased a copy of Disillusion's Ayam, and even after cleaning with my record doctor v, it still had surface noise throughout. I reached out to the vendor who I bought the record from and they sent me a new copy, which has almost no surface noise. If yours is unbearable, I would reach out to seller, request a refund and send it back. You could try giving it a run through at 45rpm or even 78rpm, as that's supposedly a trick that can sometimes alleviate surface noise. Didn't work for me with Ayam, however.

Regarding returning the record doctor, I wouldn't. I buy plenty of brand new records that come out of the sleeve looking pretty dirty. It's not going to be a magic cure all that fixes a beat up record, or one that has a pressing defect from the plant, but with help with normal records with some debris, and help with the longevity of your needle.

Right? I’m assuming the only way it will correct is if external market factors (recession) force people to stop buying vinyl. Thus labels reduce their quotas and things eventually correct?

They could build more factories but the production capacity would have to pass demand for a bit and then they’d end up with unused capacity, which can’t scale down easily.

Correct. Given the cost to build a production facility that can't pivot to produce something else (at least I'm not aware of), it's far easier to raise the price to the point where you curb demand to meet supply. It doesn't seem we've reached that point yet given vinyl record sales, so a bit concerning that, in theory, we could continue to see prices climb to $40-50 for a single LP. I don't think we've seen that yet since people seem fine waiting a year for a record to show up, and that has keep the price from the plants artificially lower.

  3. Heretoir's first album was remixed and remastered and is being reissued on vinyl. Silver limited to 149, black unknown. I imagine shipping to the US will be less than ideal...

  4. I use a DAK anti static brush, as it has both a felt pad and bristles, so best of both worlds from my perspective.

Along with the record cleaning machine that was already suggested, consider looking into a Onzow Zero Dust to clean your stylus, and if you have money to burn, the Milty Zerostat to help eliminate static electricity before you play a record.

I forget that this site has ads. I absolutely abhor websites with ads, lol. Not sure exactly but maybe it's the Brave browser that I use or in combination with a VPN. Also works awesome with YouTube. Absolutely no interruptions! 👍

Anyone else see ads here? If so, what browser do you use and do you use a VPN? (Sorry off topic)

Desktop: Chrome with uBlock Origin extension installed so I don't get ads.

Mobile (Android): Chrome -> Settings -> Site Settings -> Ads "Blocked on some sites"; Chrome -> Settings -> Privacy and Security -> Use secure DNS -> Choose another provider -> Provider URL -> https://dns.adguard.com/dns-query

With those two settings changes on mobile, I no longer get ads.

So fun to have the entire album be completely brand new.  Not already knowing & being familiar with ~1/3rd of it.  It's weird hearing you guys be so demanding of a single before dedicating $ towards a project.

Bands change their sound, and sometimes go in a completely new direction. Hearing the single has saved me more than once from blindly throwing money down the drain, especially considering the costs of LPs these days. Sometimes the single feels out of place but fits in perfectly with the album so I miss out on pre-ordering the rarest variant, but this has been far more the exception than the rule.
