Your right, free shipping is free, I don't usually shop hot topic much, these are for my daughter. I have been in retail my entire life and there just seems to be some systemic issues with the company as an outsider taking a look. 9 days past the order to ship is excessive even for free shipping. I had a horrible customer service experience when my order was canceled. I was told they were completely sold out, then the night of release they were back on the site and the next day too. At the end of the day I am happy to get them for her.

I spoke to a manager yesterday of one of the local stores, he is supposedly holding three cheers for me to be picked up today. He was very helpful after having my 3:00 am order cancelled! Hope it is true, I'm having my wife haul me up to the store in the snow and cold. I have to ride my knee walker into the mall. If it is true, he gets a letter and a business card to apply for my business. If not it will be very ugly. Their aisles are so tight I barely fit in them anyway, knee walker and a cast I might get stuck in the back of the store. Hope it all works out!
