  1. The first two Crue albums rule. Look what the cat dragged in is pretty good as well.
  2. Smiths - Strangeways, For Carnation and Squirrel Bait are gone.
  3. Q : What's got fifty legs and no teeth? A : The queue for the methadone clinic.
  4. Thanks for all the replies, may risk it.
  5. This is possibly more of a question for people outside of the U.S. but any help/advice/opinions on the subject would be great. Has anyone ever ordered vinyl from Amazon.com? I'm kind of tempted because the shipping is so cheap to Europe but I'm holding off as I'm kind of worried they won't be well packed enough to survive a transatlantic journey and arrive in good shape. Anyone had any good or bad experiences with this? Thanks a lot.
  6. I think it's a single LP, I'll check and then PM you.

  8. Mare Vitalis is certainly better than False Cathedrals, I like False Cathedrals when I listen to it but afterwards I couldn't describe it at all or even hum a song from it, I could at least hum a couple of songs from Mare Vitalis.
  9. I think that my favourite albums that came out that year were by Yo La Tengo, Shellac and J Mascis, none of those really fit in with that list though. I don't really get why that Elliott album is in there , I like it but it's not really in the same league as the others in terms of people still enjoying it today. Surprised Left and Leaving isn't on there, it's my least favourite Weakerthans album but I think it's most peoples favourite one.
  10. Creation Records before the third Oasis album. Is Jade Tree still a label? If they are not then add them to the list.
  11. That Rollins Band LP definitely came out in Europe, it's a great album.
  12. I'll be picking this up, can't wait to hear Varsity Drag covering Ipanema. Aston, this is a little off topic but if you find it in your heart to release a Jailcell Recipes Discography CD as part of your reissue series I'd be forever in your gratitude.
  13. Monorail in Glasgow (near the 13th Note). Lovely and helpful staff, great selection of new releases and I've found some pretty decent stuff in the used section before. I got the Operation Ivy self-titled picture disk for £5, and a Billy Bragg - Peel Sessions record for even cheaper. Their selection is a bit weird because they stock popular music, indie, punk, metal, post-rock, different types of dance music, jazz and reissues of classics all on vinyl. I'd say it was worth a look, but as someone said above, it depends what my opinion (collector of about 3 years, 500+ records) means to you. Thanks a lot, it sounds cool, I'll be back in Scotland for a couple of months over the summer so I'll try and check it out. It's pretty rare for me to go to any record shop and not find something.
  14. This is very true. There is only one independent record shop I've been to in Scotland that I'd actually recommend to anyone and I've visited a fair few. Which one is it?
  15. Good read, Sandy's a good fellow and he lives along the road from where I grew up.
  16. I like tapes a lot , my walkman gets much more use than my MP3 player thats for sure. $49 for 10 albums seems pretty good.
  17. I think the shipping is free in the US, still pretty pricey though. What Scotterson said above.
  18. Not sure if any of you folks are into this band but Superchunk are about to release their first album in 9 years and it's up for preorder at the Merge website: site.http://www.mergerecords.com/store/store_detail.php?catalog_id=717 Don't know how to make one of those fancy hyper links, sorry but you can copy and paste the link. Their No Pocky for Kitty and On the mouth albums have also been repressed on vinyl and are available for pre order as well. I'm totally looking forward to hearing the new record.
  19. Totally, I don't think Germany played badly the whole tournament, Spain are just really, really good. As for the final I'm rooting for Holland mainly because I like Edam and hardcore pornography.
  20. My copy of Sleepy Eyed skips loads on the first 2 songs as I remember, those 2 songs are great as well. Ive always meant to get round to buying more Buffalo Tom stuff on vinyl.
  21. Congratulations to Germany, a well deserved win.
  22. Great band, Ive only ever seen the kind of greenish cover for the LP and the cover with the painting of the fruit on the 4 track 12" ep of Birdbrain.
  23. Is that band Bum the Canadian band? I totally forgot about them.
  24. I wish these magazines would have better ideas for lists, greatest albums lists really are scraping the bottom of the barrel.
