  1. Thanks for all that info. Amoeba (where I've been before) was going to be my first stop. My hotel is right near that Rasputin. They have a decent selection, but nothing I can't get somewhere else. And I know exactly the store in Mill Valley your're talking about. I think it's Village Music or something like that. The store is actually closing at the end of the year. Elvis Costello hangs out there, I guess and is playing a show there before the store closes. Cadetapplesauce: What do you mean by fat list?
  2. Hi all. I'm in San Francisco on business this week and have flagged tomorrow (Friday) afternoon to do some record shopping, any suggestions on stores? Also, and don't go too hog wild here, does anyone have anything they want me to try to find for them (note, if it's something I'm also looking for, sorry, but it's mine if I find it)?
  3. I have it on red too, but I don't think I'm going to part with it just yet.
  4. Oohhh, that EF Devil Dust 7" someone mentioned before has GREAT artwork...I love that record. SW - Jesus Hates You is pretty rad. The Bouncing Souls - Gold Record came out really nice looking. Iron Maiden had some awesome pic discs in their hey-day. I had The Trooper on a shaped pic disc that was amazing, then I went through an anti-metal phase and sold all of my metal records (D'oh!). I look at picture discs as a nice decoration. They don't sound particularly good and the artwork loses some of its clarity. I agree with everyone who says they'd rather have it on regular vlinyl (colored or black).
  5. I seriously have a hard time believing people who say they liked Lifetime's two Jade Tree albums but don't like the new one. Agreed. I love Hello Bastards and Jersey's Best Dancers, but I think the new album is KILLER.
  6. I have an extra copy of Lifetime's new record on black vinyl, if you want to trade for it (though I'm not sure you like new Lifetime).
  7. Whether spidey's or brennan's every board should have a thread like this...every one has different folks who keep tabs on different new releases. If it wasn't for threads like this, I'd miss out on a ton of limited edition stuff.
  8. NICE! The fact that I'm traveling on business in San Francisco and I'm still checking out this board on downtime is testament to the married corporate punks taking over! Watch your backs!!!
  9. I agree with the guilt. I always feel a little guilty after paying a ton for a record, but the guilt fades. My justification is my wife has a thing for high-ticket fashoin, etc...so when she drops $2.500 on a handbag, I think a few records for $50 to $100 ain't all bad.
  10. Pretty sure red is a UK import. No idea on numbers, though.
  11. I want to give benchwarmer a huge shout-out. I went up there last night to pick up the vinyl. He wasn't kidding when he said there was a lot. And he wasn't kidding when he said there were a bunch of gems in there. I took a quick pass through them and found some really amazing records (some of which I have been looking for): Adicts - Sound of Music Pink Lincolns - Back From The Pink Room (first press) Urban Waste - 12" ep Sham 69 A bunch of Exploited and GBH releases. There was a ton of stuff I've never heard of that I'm going to investigate. I also found a couple of things I already have if anyone wants them: Rip Offs - Got A Record (one of my favorites of all time) Max RNR Comp. - They Don't Get Paid, They Don't Get Laid, But Boy Do They Work Hard (it has Screeching Weasel, Jawbox, Downfall, Cringer, Nausea and a bunch of others on it...great comp) Youth Brigade - Sound & Fury (not a rare press, but amazing record) Over the next couple of weeks I'm going to dig through them a little closer. I figure, since they were given to me from someone on this board, I'd offer up the ones I don't want to others here. Maybe you just pay shipping, or whatever (I have a million LP mailers, so that won't be a problem). Anyway, thanks to benchwarmer. He was a really nice guy and helped me carry the huge stacks of vinyl to the car -- and even threw in a nice little wooden LP box. It's folks like him who keep vinyl collecting alive. Hopefully I'll catch you at the Bouncing Souls/Lifetime/Ergs show in August.
  12. I would just create a new topic titled something like "Good traders, buyers and sellers" and maybe one for bad. If you trade with someone and it goes well, post it there. Use their screen name, or, if they're ok with it, their real name. Something like "Awesome trade with Virgil, thanks." and he can do the same. If a person is bad, put their name in the bad one and say what the problem was. "Don't trade with XXX...he ripped me off and never sent records." And, if you really feel slighted, list as much info on the person as you can so we don't fall victim if he/she uses another screenname or something. That's the best thing I can think of. You can sticky the topics to ensure they stay at the top of the main page.
  13. I'm a big fan of a nice clear royal blue (the blue version of Rancid - Sick Sick World). I'm getting tired of the half/half splits and splatter doesn't do much for me anymore unless it's a bunch of colors blended in. That said, the new Kill Your Idols box has beautiful vinyl. They took the half/half and did half solid/half splatter on two of them and that looks amazing. Actually, I was stunned by the packaging and the overall beauty of that set: http://www.getouttatownrecords.com/releases.html#GOT009
  14. Interpunk has the Against Me 7" too. If you pre-order Bad Religion from Interpunk you get two comp CDs
  15. Totally worth it. I ordered the LP for me and the CD for my wife, both come with the 7" so that's sweet.
  16. It's amost like a parchment, that's the best way I can describe it. It's just really nice paper and just really well done. One of the more interesting inserts in a while.
  17. Mine (one black/one colored) just arrived. That lyric sheet is amazing. I almost don't want to handle it.
  18. There are a ton of white White People for Peace 7"s on ebay, buy it now $5...
  19. Yeah, just let me know. And if you want a few bucks, that's cool too. my email address is above, so keep me posted.
  20. I live in newton, I'll take them off your hands...I can drive up as early as tomorrow (Saturday)...I used to work in Beverly, so I know the North Shore. Email me: [email protected]
  21. Yeah, that message board gets way off topic...I use it to get info on pre-orders and what not...otherwise, it's just idle chatter about nothing and people trying to sell/trade records. I haven't done business with anyone on there -- aside from pre-orders from small labels -- I don't know if I really trust it.
  22. For 7" box sets, I use comic book sleeves and tape them closed...work pretty well. I don't have anything for LPs, but that link looks nice.
