  1. If you can save $30 and buy an og, or a normal reissue, why buy something more expensive just to buy something more expensive?
  2. heads up to you "audiophiles" - very little of the actual range and quality of sound on a record is produced by the thickness. The grooves on a standard weight record are as deep as the grooves on a 180g record. Some of the same plates are used from weight to weight with these reissues. is there some truth to it? yes is it a still a giant moneymaking scam? yes.
  3. congrats to people on here for finally realizing ten different records is better than ten of one record.
  4. go make a thread about this on termbo. I'm sure there are some kids over there that would be much more excited about this than here.
  5. I own all the bootlegs of your dad's band. Let me buy an og off you. come on.
  6. for real. someone HAD to go on this. or did all virgilites jump ship when interpunk took over?
  7. I don't get people that were like "he was always a good guy". bullshit. there were countless threads on vlv dealing solely with calling this dude out for being a pyramid scheming mother fucker. I don't get how shitty taste in records led so many people to this dumb-ass assumption, but come on. 1000 dollars to get every record ever put out? think that out for thirty seconds and explain why that's a fucking stupid idea. now think to yourself "would any company that's doing well ever, EVER do this?"
  8. adjust the counterbalance/weight. if your turntable doesn't have it, it's a cheap piece of crap.
  9. I can't tell how much of this thread is sarcasm. yeah dude, you're buying "who killed marilyn" for 6 bucks. I'm sure that's just dead stock of a $200 record.
  10. did anyone end up on this? how many variants did he offer?
  11. things in this thread - some people still believe that this kid is a cry baby for being upset with virgil virgil is still a scumbag scott is still fat and writes for a long forgotten magazine, wishing he could spend his days at the chilli's buffet bar
  12. This thread is fucking baffling. Unless you're ripping crazy hard to find records that are decades old, you can probably download a better rip than you can create. As for someone talking about how good their vinyl rip sounds that is going through their fucking LINE IN on the computer!? Jesus christ it doesn't matter how kbps you are using on the mp3 end of this thing, it's going to sound worse than lower quality mp3's that are ripped properly.
  13. 1- wouldn't a band have to be marketable to be using a kickstarter? 2- if you want people to hear bands you think won't be heard otherwise, then pony up and do it yourself 3- The music industry? Really?
  14. it's a shame you've never heard of the better band on this split (coming from someone who owns almost every fucked up record). as for the radiowhatever person. It really is lame that you had a preorder for a record you weren't putting out, that you didn't even have in your hands. arent you the same person that put up preorders for records before a label even had the tests of them? shitty
  15. did you sell these before you had them in your hands? if so, then paints on your face buddy, that's straight up scum-bag territory. as for matador getting copies, like everyone on here that preordered, most real distributors (as in, not some dude sitting in his parents basement with a few crates of records) preorder stuff as well. and it makes sense a lot of the time to send records to distributors first.
  16. lunchbox records in charlotte has these. also... http://www.matadorrecords.com/store/index.php?catalog_id=564
  17. Anyone else get bummed about "punks" talking about "market value" of records like they're a commodity instead of an art medium? And the idea that some people think the value of a record can only go up in mind boggling. You all know the vinyl bubble is going to burst right? Sites like this have helped create 90's comic book market. Anyone want to guess how much those "rare" high priced comics are today? They're in the dollar bin
  18. dude, if you make so much money, wouldn't you want to open this record you love instead of making a few dollars (when you're clearly raking in the big bux).
  19. regardless, you shit doesn't deserve to burn down. I've been burned by labels and bands before and I would never be excited that their business was made desolate.
  20. 12" of abrasive punk from North Carolina. Only 6 months after "White Walls" 12" came out. 100 copies, self-released on 'Made In Kansas'. We'll have copies at the 10/26/2010 show with Diet Cokeheads, and will be playing Fest that weekend. I would guess there won't be many copies left after those two shows. listen here: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?292aywtvi5k2v6a more info here: http://gridsnc.blogspot.com/ to order, you have to send an email to - 3.bottom.plow AT gmail DOT com we're putting them for sale at the beginning of next week, but if you email you get a copy saved.
  21. Added: Every Time I Die Box set on color
  22. I'll sell mine for $70 ppd. No fucked up cover like the one in the ebay auction, just only like one of the records in this set
